What about synthesizer period (only on Abbey Road but it’s very characteristic on it), leslie or fuzz period (not an instrument but very characteristic in that period) or keyboard period (they used keyboard instruments before but at that time very much, I mean every song on let it be and Abbey Road (I’m not sure if there are keyboards on Polythene Pam /She Came In Through The Bathroom Window ) feature at least one keyboard instrument so do many songs on the White Album )

Well, they used keyboards all through their career – as you yourself surely know, thanks to that epic list you compiled! But one fairly interesting thing is that until 1968, all the kbds were handled either be a Beatle or George Martin (and by Mal Evans, but ony one chord in one song), whereas Billy Preston contributed to the 1969 recordings, and Nicky Hopkins played piano on “Revolution ” (and engineer Chris Thomas on “Pigies”) in ’68. So call 1968-69 their “outside keyboardists era”, maybe.
Or maybe, considering Eric Clapton as well as Billy and Nicky, just consider 1968-69 their “special guest musician” period…no wait, that’s not really an instrumental trademark at all…

A more ridiculous idea would be calling it the “hair inequality period”! They were all clean-shaven for a long while, then they all grew moustaches together in ’67. After that, they never had the same combination of beard/moustache/clean-shaven among them at the same time.

I’m one of those fans who thinks that The Beatles progressively got better throughout their career. Don’t get me wrong, The Beatles early music is far from bad music but let’s put it this way, i’ll take While My Guitar Gently Weeps any day over Roll Over Beethoven .

Is there anyone who thinks the opposite?
“Oh, Please Please Me is so much better than Abbey Road “- I think that sentence has never been said or written before.

In terms of looks and music, 1965-1968 is my favourite period.
I could’ve said 1966-1968 but didn’t want to miss out on Rubber Soul .

1965-1967 for me.
Though Please Please Me is slightly better than Abbey Road IMO.

Interesting opinion, what makes you prefer Please Please Me to Abbey Road ? Is it the rawness of the songs?
I’d say Abbey Road is my fifth favourite album by them simply because I think it lacks substance.
Please Please Me is their second best early album behind A Hard Day’s Night imo.

It’s got a higher overall average, and i find it slightly more cohesive.
Now, I know you’ll be saying ‘but nothing is more cohesive than the medley!’. I know. It’s not bad.
It’s just really not that great. It’s got its moments (MMM, PP, The End ), but otherwise, the medley is awful. That means the A-side had less songs to choose from, thus leading it to be less cohesive than normal.
For instance, I feel MSH would fit better on the B-side. Not that it’s a bad song, but it doesn’t fit after Something very well.
PPM has that live, ad-lib feeling too. As it was recorded on one day, too…
(besides, AR is the album with one of my 3 least favourite songs, IWY(SSH). That’s points off too.)

My favourite period is late ’67 (All You Need Is Love , Magical Mystery Tour etc.) to early ’68 (Hey Bulldog , Lady Madonna , Rishikesh etc.) I think the only negative things about that period would be Brian’s death and the MMT film flopping.

1965-1967 for me. Rubber Soul , Revolver , and Sgt Pepper are a holy trinity of albums, and MMT ain’t bad either. Plus I just like the feeling the band had at the time — they were progressing so quickly no one could say where they might take it next.

I think there’s people who think that the early Beatles are just as good as the later Beatles but i don’t know any who prefer The Beatles early work.

Rubber Soul – Abbey Road is clearly their best period. The question is whether you class it all as one era, or several.
In my opinion it is –
1962-64 – The Early Years
1965 – The Development
1966-67 – Psychedelia
1968 – 1970 – The Classic Rock Period & The Breakup
I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

Though I do prefer Abbey Road over Please Please Me , there is a certain charm in their early stuff that they lost over time.
My favorite Beatles period is probably 1964. That isn’t necessarily my favorite period as far as their music goes, but more for their story. It just seems like at this time they hadn’t yet grown tired of all the concerts and press conferences and they really seemed excited about everything that was happening. Plus, the mop-tops and matching suits look was pretty cute.
