What a great and lively discussion! I agree with much of what was said, but here’s my two cents. Mr. Sun King , while I agree with your overall point, I really think you’re trying to classify art too much. The point about Pepper is that they were songs that couldn’t be performed live, so therefore it most definitely would be considered a concept album because that is the theme and every song adheres to that theme. Tommy is a concept album because all the songs are based around this character Tommy, but that doesn’t mean that every song must be about some character, like if every song were about Sgt. Pepper or something like that. It’s art and it’s abstract, and in that respect I would say it was their creative peak because no one could ever replicate that album, it is so completely unique. I don’t think it’s song for song their best album, heck it might not even be in the top 5, but as a complete album from start to finish it could be their best because of the creativity present in every single song.

Ohhhhhhhhhh excellent post Gniknus! And well I'm used to listening to the Beatles in albums, but yeah you're right. As a whole, Pepper is amazing. If you pick one song to listen by itself (with a few exceptions) it sounds not that great, something you can't say for example, from Abbey Road (not considering the medleys maybe)
The thing is, Pepper is not one of my favorite albums (but that's just me), and I've been listening to it lately, and I think I'm finding love for it.
But now that Cuaresma (Lent) is coming, I'm opening my arms to Abbey Road .
BTW Guys, don't you feel like having a favorite album depending the season?

I do. The White Album Is my Christmas Album, so to speak. Abbey Road is for Summer, and Revolver is near my B-Day.

Mith, what is in your coffee today? 🙂
With the exception of Beatles For Sale (Fall — and I realize that it's not exactly a subliminal choice) I can't think of another album that invokes a season. Songs, yes: I've Just Seen a Face, Dear Prudence , Strawberry Fields Forever , and Here Comes The Sun — Spring; I Want You (She's So Heavy) — Winter; And Your Bird Can Sing , Good Day Sunshine , Magical Mystery Tour , Penny Lane — Summer; Let It Be , Nowhere Man , In My Life and from BFS especially No Reply and I'm a Loser — Fall
I could seriously think more about this, but I'll stop here in case anyone else wants to jump in.

Hmmm, I guess that's possible. But for me it's more how the weather is outside. For example on those days when it feels like it's going to rain, but it isn't, and there is just a lot of moisture in the air I listen to songs like Don't Let Me Down and I Want You(She's So Heavy) more often. But no, not so much for seasons.

I listened to Pepper and Abbey Road and the White Album a lot when we had heavy snow last winter, so I associate those with winter a lot.

To me, I listen to Abbey Road alot during winter because it has a summer-y feel.

I listen to Here Comes The Sun right when the weather is getting warmer for obvious reasons. I also listen to Dear Pudence around this time. Basically any song that has a very happy, sunshiny feeling, I listen to it right when winter ends and spring is beginning. I don't really listen to full albums during a certain time. I do it when I'm bored or timing things.
Jsyk: From Baltimore to DC by bus, it takes one Abbey Road .

So going back to the whole Pepper discussion earlier in the thread, I really listened to it, FULLY. It is definitely an album where it has to be considered on a whole scale. The album is rather trippy, but we all know it. But it is brilliant. It flows well into each other. I always dismissed it because I thought that the songs were rather weak on its own. It reminds me of The Dark Side of the Moon. It all makes sense when you listen to all together.
Still wouldn't consider it a favorite, but I might move it above MMT. It is a stronger album.
White Album still holds favorite status.

You know, I'm not really commited to a Beatles Album that I can love forever and ever because, in case you haven't noticed, they deserve more than that…or something.
Right now, my favorite Beatles album is Revolver . It has been for a while, btu I just adore “For No One ” and “Here, There And Everywhere “.
