I’ve always preferred the UK albums, especially for Help ! and A Hard Day’s Night . Also receiving Rubber Soul without Drive My Car and Nowhere Man was a HUGE disappointment.

Was over in iTunes and discovered that the US albums are gone. Anyone know why they were taken away? Anyone know if you can still go into stores and buy them, its not like they are available for streaming?
They still had some at my local store last week – maybe this is a temporary glitch or they are fighting with Apple (the other one) again?

What they did with the US Albums box doesn’t bother me in the slightest because the sound is light years ahead of the Capitol boxes. I will keep the Capitol boxes because they contain historically correct mixes, but I’ll be going to the US Albums box for listening enjoyment, because they sound better.
Of course the 2014 U.S. CD box set sound better, they used the 2009 U.K. mixes and fudged a few songs to make it sound like the Original U.S. LP’s, but failed miserably. Having the Capitol CD box sets from 2004-06 is allowing you to hear how the U.S. albums actually sounded. Warts and all!
I feel soooooo sorry for people who paid big bucks for the 2014 U.S. set, expecting to hear the original 60’s Capitol LPs, when in fact, all they got was nice LP artwork.

Found in the press release (contained in an article Joe wrote) that
For a limited time, all of the albums (with the exception of The Beatles’ Story, an audio documentary album) will also be available for individual CD purchase.
So obviously that limited time has passed.

I guess it pays to buy the box sets, split them up to sell individually!
I suppose If I had kept my 2004-06 Capitol CD set, I might have bought the 2014 US set for the better album covers (and the other 5 LP’s), and put in the 8 dexterized Capitol CDs in the US album covers.
*** And then pawned off the Capitol box set with the 2014 CD’s in them…..

I wonder why The US Albums wasn’t released on vinyl and also why they didn’t include Sgt. Pepper , MMT, The Beatles, Yellow Submarine , Abbey Road , and Let It Be . Both of these additions would’ve sold more copies.
Maybe you should try posting more.

It’s because these albums were the same on both sides of the pond. The set only contains albums that are different from the UK albums.

I know that, but when a 1st gen or older 2nd gen fan thinks of The US Albums, they think of:
Meet The Beatles
The Beatles Second Album
Something New
Beatles 65′
The Early Beatles
Beatles VI
Help !
Yesterday And Today
Sgt. Pepper ‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band
The Beatles
Someone born in say 1961 wouldn’t say “in the US, Revolver was the last album until Hey Jude came out 4 years later”, so why have the contents within say that, wouldn’t it make more sense to include every album released in the US rather than every album released in the US that is different from the UK. Also, In the UK, Magical Mystery Tour contained only tracks 1, 5, 6, 2, 3, and 4 of the US version while tracks 7-10 were non album singles/B-sides and All You Need Is Love was an original track for Yellow Submarine .

If they include all those albums, then you wouldn’t have to buy the other box set. They’re trying to make money.
Have you ever hard of hardcore collectors. You know, those sort of people who would buy the same things with the slightest of differences multiple times, I’m sure they would buy all 3 sets in both vinyl and CD formats, along with the original records in both US and UK variants and the 1987 releases.

The only way to listen to The Beatles is on original US stereo vinyl, although I do think they should’ve put the US albums on vinyl, although they most likely didn’t because if you notice on the CD’s, there are stereo and mono versions on the same CD, which would be impossible for one vinyl.

I think that that was the stupidest way to reissue the US albums. They should have either done separate mono and stereo sets just like the UK albums, or they should have put the mono and stereo albums in the same set but had them on separate CDs.
