hey guys, I’m new on the forum so sorry if already is a topic about it.
I read something about a discography box remastered in vinyl released in 2009, or not remastered, just a discography box.
I know there is a box in Compact Disc, but i’m looking for a box in Vinyl, or LP.

Offline The vinyl box has been rumoured to be near release a handful of times but nothing has ever been seen of it. Put it down to another of those things that Apple missed the boat on – vinyl sales have picked up over the last few years with Abbey Road being one of the top sellers.

Offline Okay, so for years now I’ve been hearing about a supposed coming Beatles vinyl Lp box set. I first heard this rumor around 2009 at about the same time as the Beatles Stereo CD Box Set was released. I haven’t seen or heard a single statement of any kind from anyone in a position of authority who could verify such an upcoming release. If you Goolge “2012 Beatles vinyl box set” you will get a handful of sites and forums with people discussing it. One guy on a forum even claimed that he had an email exchange with an EMI rep who confirmed that they were in the production process. QUESTION: Have you or anyone know heard anything about an upcoming Beatles vinyl LP box set to be released in the relatively near future? If so, where did you hear it and if it was from an official inside source, can you provide any proof of the discussion?

I haven’t heard any news, but it wouldn’t surprise me (although I think they’d have announced it by now if they were planning it for the Christmas market – Magical Mystery Tour and the remasters were both announced by September, and released in October).
Full scale reproductions, in heavy-duty virgin vinyl, with a limited run (though still enough to sell to everyone who wants one, like the mono box). Can’t see it failing really. I’d buy one, and I already own quite a lot of the original albums.

Offline I wouldn’t buy it. I’m part of this CD/MP3/Download generation, and I have a handful of new albums on vinyl. I wouldn’t buy new versions of what already exists on vinyl. For people who don’t have an abundance of Beatles LP’s, it’s nice, but I’d prefer the original pressing if available.
My other objection is that new vinyl is vastly expensive in comparison to what I feel is a fair price in my neck of the woods. It’s either buy online (which I’d prefer not do) or wait till I go to other stores. I might buy the UK A Hard Day’s Night , but that’s it.

Offline I agree on the price part. Just look at RS vinyl collection and they have two parts of it, and every costs over 500 euros. It’s just insane.

Offline So the news is out and its damn expensive. The vinyl box is to be released on 13th November with the list price ranging between $449 and $499 (approx. £276 -> £307).
Beatles Examiner writes
“Each album features original U.K. vinyl album artwork, original U.K. track listings, expanded booklets containing original and newly penned liner notes, recording notes, rare photos, and fold-out packaging. Everything comes housed in a tall, glossy, hard black lift-top case augmented with a magnetic clasp,” read some of the now missing description of the set from Music Direct.
“This stereo box set includes all 13 albums plus ‘Past Masters .’ It is comprised of the original 12 Beatles albums in stereo, with track listings and artwork as originally released in the UK, plus ‘Magical Mystery Tour .’ In addition, the collections ‘Past Masters Vol. I and II’ are now combined as one title, for a total of 14 titles over 16 discs all housed in a Super Deluxe Box!,” according to Elusive Disc.
No mention of a mono release tho.
Might be passing over this due to the price unless it is heavily reduced online.

Offline I know what the difference between mono and stereo is but I thought that the sound was better if in mono. If so, why are they only releasing it in stereo? Why are they even selling stereo if mono sounds better, or doesn´t it? I´ve always thought it did.

Offline For $34.53 an album, it needed to be significantly better than this. I object to new vinyl being more then $25, and there is no chance in hell I’ll be getting this ever. I’ll take my chances on originals popping up in my area. I didn’t see any mention of individual releases; I presume there will be. Revolver may become a birthday gift, but this is actually annoying me.

Offline I presume the lps will be available individually but the cost is rediculously high. The product will be wonderful as Apple really do release well crafted gorgeous products well they are interested but worth £300 – im not too sure.

Offline Okay, this is so strange. I just started this thread weeks ago after hearing about this supposed vinyl box set since 2009. According to a ton of Beatles blogs and fan sites, there are some sketchy, yet appealing details beginning to emerge as you all have noted previously. All signs point to October 1st as the announce date. These vinyls were made by copying the original master tapes to 24/96 audio then digging that into lacquer. This set DOES INCLUDE Past Masters !!! Finally, now we won’t have to buy shitty copies of vinyl Past Masters cut from horrible mp3 audio. If you want to know where I got this info just go and Google search “Beatles vinyl box set November 2012” and read the first page for yourself. The dawn of audiophile quality Beatles vinyl is upon us, my friends.

Offline @FABFOURFAMILY – The difference between stereo and mono is very noticeable. I personally prefer mono to stereo, but can listen to and enjoy both. With stereo you get all the deeper bass tones in the left channel (left ear if you’re wearing headphones) and all the higher treble tones in the right ear. With mono, all the same sounds are coming through all the same speakers on all sides. This results in a chunkier, not as crisp sound that is truer to the original sounds the Beatles produced. The Beatles themselves had their hands in producing the mono master mixes, but not the stereo master mixes. This is just a hunch, but if I had to guess I would say that this next vinyl release will see a “limited edition” mono box set as well just like we saw with the 2009 CD box sets. Long story short, the mono/stereo thing is a matter of taste and Apple knows we’ll eat it up with a spoon if they just produce and package it.

Offline My objection to the price is lessening, because, even though I consider it vastly over-priced, new vinyl as a whole is too damn expensive, and frankly I’m glad they’re doing it. I just don’t have the funds to even contemplate buying it. It’ll sell shitloads though, because it doesn’t at the end of the day – people will groan about the price, maybe wait, and then bite the bullet and pay it.

Offline In the lead up to christmas online stores will reduce the price a bit to entice those on the fence and anyway amazon and places like that usually sell them cheaper than what Apple do.
It’ll sell because a lot of fans have been waiting for it since September 2009 and before and there are tons of beatle completists who want everything for their collection to be complete regardless of cost. One thing thats guaranteed is the beatles will sell and make money, its EMI’s greatest cash cow. When it was facing financial trouble back in 2009 the remasters were a godsend.

Offline The REAL bitch of it is that a month ago I got tired of waiting on this box set to be announced so I bought The Beatles Collection, The Beatles Singles Collection, and The Beatles EP Collection. All three of the vinyl box sets released back in the late 1970’s. The LPs were in good shape, but the EP and singles collections were beyond mint condition and in glorious, glorious mono. I wish I had waited to buy this one though. 180 gram 24/96 vinyls…dammit.
