A Day In The Life . I hated it when I was little (mostly because the Paul part confused me, after all, how do you successfully consume a cup without grinding it up into a paste?) but now it’s like this crazy journey that you go on each time you hear it.
Aww Paul’s section is my favorite part of the song. I remember the first time I listened to it I fully expected there to be a second Paul section after the orchestra slidy thing, and I was so disappointed when it just ended instead.

Sgt Pepper is an interesting album to me because while it’s one of the Beatles’ most iconic and recognisable albums, it has so many songs that are quite underrated, even to Beatle fans. It’s just what I’ve noticed anyway. And they all somehow manage to be my favourites on it haha.
Fixing A Hole , for example, is one I absolutely love! I love the playful music arrangement, how relaxed and breezy it is, and the lyrics which are among Paul’s best. The whole concept of being inside your head, drifting away into thought, is very relatable.
I have to mention Good Morning, Good Morning too because it’s pure genius. The fake, extremely happy music in the form of a television jingle, masking the boredom of the protagonist in his miserable life. I was never a big fan of the song but once I really started analysing the lyrics it shot right up my list of fave Beatle songs. It’s like the whole thing is mocking you and tricking you into thinking it’s cheerful and that’s why I find it really interesting. It puts you straight into John’s mindset at the time.
I could go on to include Lucy, Mr Kite, Lovely Rita , Day In The Life but I know I’d be cheating by that point haha

I like With A Little Help From My Friends , it makes me think of my friends, they’re really cool, I like my friends. Also Ringo sings for that one and I love it. Ringo singing is like the Aurora Borealis, rare and beautiful.

After consideration, With A Little Help From My Friends is my favourite. Current favourite, anyway. Ringo and John together. I love the bittersweet tone it has and the harmonising. It’s a song that stays with me, and also rings true for me.

Hands down A Day In The Life ….but Fixing A Hole is a close second…or first…and then there’s Within You Without You …oh and Lucy In The Sky… The title track… Lovely Rita … Mr Kite… Getting Better … I mean the whole album is meant to be just one work anyway. Splitting it up is wrong, so the album as a whole…final answer.

I love With A Little Help From My Friends . It has a great bassline as well as a Ringo lead (which I love). Good drums, and backing vocals from Paul and John.

You have great taste. Young Sean Lennon also loved this song, as Anthology shows.

Hmm… probably a tie between ADITL and Fixing A Hole . They’re both such lyrical masterpieces. The solo in Fixing A Hole is one of my favorites, and I love Paul’s vocal. But… A Day In The Life is such a classic that it has to be up there. Within You Without You is one of my all time favorites too: great lyrics and sitars and psychedelia… who could ask for more?
Overall, Sgt. Pepper ’s a great record, so I don’t know if I could pick one song.
Be groovy or leave, man.

I’d say mine is a tie between “A Day In The Life ” and “Being For The Benefit of Mr. Kite”. Both songs are simply ethereal, out-worldly songs that remain among some of my favorite Beatles songs. That being said “Lovely Rita ” and “Sgt. Pepper ‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band” are not too far behind either.
We do a little trolling

I love every little thing about Sgt. Pepper ‘s, but if I had to pick a favorite song it would Lovely Rita (if you take a peek at my username). It’s just so fun and playful and I love listening to it. I also loved dissecting it and having fun thinking about the theme of the song, which I interpret to be about those moments when you hopelessly pine after random attractive people that you see in your daily life. It’s just cool and fun!
