So, there’s your answer, @Ahhh Girl. @Necko suggests Robert Zimmerman is still alive and croaking. @sigh butterfly doesn’t remember hearing of the demise of Dion DiMucci. I’ll add that artist Larry Bell is still kicking around South of the border.
Very good. Those are the 3.

Mine is here the next business day after June 1, well done Amazon. The packaging is awesome in the original sense of the word. I’ll say more when I’ve gone through all of it but I like the remix, it sounds full-bodied at last and I love the vocal space in the stereo field. I had to listen to Penny Lane take 6 and it’s great to hear the mixed pianos on their own. The book is fantastic and makes some interesting new claims, eg that Paul invented what I’ve been calling the “vamp” rhythm via piano for Penny Lane – I disagree, they did have that rhythm in Revolver already. But overall I’m ecstatic, it’s a wonderful day today.

Martha, Ahhh Girl, BeatlebugI'm like Necko only I'm a bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin and also everyone. Or is everyone me? Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe. This has been true for 2016 & 2017 but I may have to get more specific in the future.

Got my copy of the Super Deluxe Edition and… I can’t stop listening to it!!!
The new stereo mix breathed more life in the album compared to the ’09 remaster. My personal highlights:
Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds – Hear the organ note go from one speaker to another was a trip in itself to my ears
Strawberry Fields Forever – To finally hear Take 26 was like a fitting the final piece of the puzzle for me. For years, I’ve wondered how John’s voice subtly changed partway through the song, and the stories I’ve read, and that take answered it all for me.
I could go on, but I’m afraid I might turn this to an essay!

I watched the PBS documentary over the weekend. Of course it was equal parts documentary and employees asking you for money, but I enjoyed it. I liked how it analyzed the music and the influences behind it, which is something I didn’t really know about.

I have not had the opportunity to hear the mono mixes on the Super Deluxe edition; these are remixed and different than the Beatles in Mono release of 2009?
I’ve not heard however I believe they one and the same.

Its probably similar to how they now have new remasters of the SFF and Penny Lane videos to go along with the set, despite releasing restorations of the music videos last year. There is really no detectable difference, but there may or may not have been additional work done on the mixes. After the mono album there are a few tracks released with the original mono mix.

It’s the original 1967 mix, not sure if this is an original master (don’t have the 2009 mono remasters to compare)
It’s different because the runout groove is just a couple of seconds long. It doesn’t repeat like it does on the remaster.

I never felt that “good morning” was much of a track to be honest, but the remix is fantastic. The depth in the sound brings out how rocking the bands performance is. The bass drum, the horns seem to be more ‘phased’ and when the guitar solo kicks in its as sharp as a knife.
The new version is a must for any beatles fan (especially vinyl). No matter how many copies of it you have.

The Official UK Album Chart has ‘Pepper’ at #1 this week. Hopefully this will assist Apple in their decisions for future album box sets as one of the arguments put forward for Apple letting releases pass by is the lack of sales.

My guess would be Paul McCartney , I’m surprised that they didn’t release it in this box set.

Questlove was in the CNN documentaries about the sixties. Very knowledgeable guy with great taste. The Roots were in town once, but I missed them. My friends that went said that they were fantastic.

My box set came in a few days ago; I finally listened to the remix, and wow! Everything sounded so spread out, so I could hear everything and even noticed new things that I’ve never heard before. Good Morning Good Morning was a real eye-opener for me, the drums seem much louder and more apparent, and overall the track is much punchier. Being able to hear Ringo so much (not just on GMGM, but on other tracks as well) has given me an enhanced appreciation of his playing, I think.
She’s Leaving Home was a WOAH moment. It’s definitely going to take me a little to get used to it, but I do really like it as well.
Taking everything into account, WeepyC is very happy with it so far.
