As the album was never officially released, it obviously hasn’t any official jacket art, but I have a question about the design used by the bootleggers. Did they take it from promotional material prepared before the album got the axe? Is this the art that would have been on the official release? More than a bit slapdash, it’s also quite suggestive of the Anthology designs, which are from the mid-nineties, whereas Sessions was slated for 1985, so I suppose that means nothing.
Thanks!

According to Jim Berkenstadt and Belmo in ‘Black Market Beatles’ the front cover for the LP back in 1985 was
before the album got scrapped and said to have been destroyed but actually got into the hands of bootleggers. EMI had prepared everything to go before it was scraped at the last minute after Apple raised objections.
I would therefore presume that the one you posted @stuartgardner is a bootleggers creation but it could have been a rejected alternative.
@Zig, @Ahhh Girl, care to do the honours.

I always thought that it was what they were going to use officially and it looked similar to Anthology as it was the same idea, what they were planning to do for Sessions, saved for Anthology.

Article on Sessions by John C Winn. Am trying to find more on the cover but everything just keeps regurgitating the same story of how it came to be bootlegged.
No pics but one paragraph reads
Sleeves for the LP and 45 were designed, sleeve notes written (in Aug 84 by Allan Kozinn, later replaced by Brian Southall’s notes), label copy was prepared (on 14 Dec 84), catalogue numbers were assigned (Parlophone EJ 2402701 and Capitol ST-12373 for the LP, Parlophone R6088 for the single), release dates were finalized (28 Jan 85 for the single, 25 Feb 85 for the LP).
[My post above is so filled with vulgarity and horror its been sucked up the inbuilt site moderator. Its so unacceptable i am preparing to be banned within seconds.
Seriously tho. Again!]

Is this some sort of glitch with your profile or something? You’re easily the most heavily moderated poster (perhaps because you’ve posted more than everyone else) and I just don’t get it. I mean, you articulate strong opinions at times (such as your love for ‘Hold Me Tight ‘ or Apple Corps.) but you’ve always been respectful (even when you do use profanities) while making your point as far as I can tell, what’s this all about? If you don’t mind me asking…:-)

I have no idea why mmm’ posts keep getting put under moderation. @Joe, is there anything you can do to help mmm (and secondarily Zig and me) out?

I am tempted to say its the site i link to that gets flagged but its not always the same site and why would a site with a picture of Columbo’s dog be deemed to be worthy of mod approval?
I’m going for them being such damn good posts, so highly filled with brilliance, awe, imagination and insight that the site just wants them to be viewed by the mods to inspire them into such territories themselves so that the level of quality material on this forum will increase five-fold. Shame its not working.
And thanks for the kind words Billy. I do aim to post [crap] in a respectful, pleasant manner even when slating things.

They are so stunningly brilliant that we must keep them to ourselves and bask in the aura of their magnificence for at least a few fleeting moments before unleashing them upon the rest of the Forum who, along with us, seem diminished in the mere presence of your awe inspiring wit.

Yeah, that’s probably triggering the spam filter. It’s one downside of the autolinking thing – when people list a lot of titles without adding any discussion, it looks a lot like spam posts often do.

Don’t think it was links. It was the second post, with only one link that went under auto-moderation.
Auto-moderation, given how many posts of his it’s grabbed the past week-or-so, has it in for mmm!

I once had this German bootleg of it, which has a completely different cover:

And it came with a paper insert with mostly incorrect information about each song.
