I think Rubber Soul is a country album, so it definitely WOULD NOT be a good contender for the Rubber Soul Revolver 2-volume set idea.

drop it.

I am not right, I am right.

I’m Looking Through You Came on my shuffle and for no reason in particular started getting emotional over how good The Beatles really are and how much they mean to me. I mean wow, the melody and lyrics are firing on all cylinders with this song, truly one of Paul’s finest accomplishments. Had to start the album over from the beginning, and stylistically its absolutely phenomenal. It rocks harder than most people are willing to admit, but the songwriting is really what stands out. Each song stands on it own as a clever, original take on relationships with people. Not only is it nearly perfect sonically, but thematically this album is really strong as well. This is such an excellent period for the undisputed greatest band.

Possibly, as it came from the same era. I have always loved the track, ever since I first heard it when I was 12.

Well…Considering that Please Please Me and With The Beatles celebrate their 60th anniversary next year, it could be possible that one or even both of them are getting the deluxe treatment in 2023. Possibly Rubber Soul could get it in 2025 for its 60th.

For Please Please Me , the entire recording session is less than 12 hours. Now that would have made for an interesting documentary (lunch break included).

I very much doubt it as, firstly, I think they will move backwards from Revolver , with Giles having already said that he has looked at the Rubber Soul  sessions when considering whether Revolver  and Rubber Soul  had enough to be done separately or should be done as a combined set; secondly, while not available for long, and only a digital release, the main Please Please Me  and With The Beatles outtakes were released on The Beatles Bootleg Recordings 1963 in December 2013, which would make it highly unlikely there would be enough unreleased outtakes to make either of great interest.

Would you say that AHDN BfS and Help got enough stuff to be released too?

Aren’t some of the session tapes for ‘PPM ‘ lost so outtakes existing would be limited, tho the majority of what was on the ’63 Bootleg album was what was out already – I think ‘Money’ was the only previously unheard piece and that was only the piano part missing.

Of course. However I’d have to say the sound of Nowhere Man in particular is my favourite genre. Folk rock with introspective lyrics.

I love the song, and I’m not complaining about the length as I love the sound, but it lyrically gets across everything it needs to within the first 1.50 minutes or so. I wouldn’t go without the wistful ending refrain though, particularly how John sings it.

I’ve always found ‘Nowhere Man ‘ to be a boring song and fail to see what others do. Whoever wrote ‘Revolution In The Head’ was irked by ‘NM’ coming immediately after ‘You Won’t See Me ‘ due to the backing vocals being the same and how he preferred the former; I’ve always opted for ‘YWSM’ and how fed up and sad Paul sounds.

You Won’t See Me is one of the most underrated songs in the catalog. Its a cool combination of being a formulaic pop song (a phenomenal formula at that) while several if the changes are unpredictable, moody, and filled with all sorts of emotion. Still prefer Nowhere Man but Rubber Soul wouldn’t be nearly the classic album it is if it had any duds, and YWSM certainly isn’t one.
