Do you play it with a capo on the 8th fret?
Yep I play with it on the 8th fret. That’s the correct way according to the songbook I have.

Just make sure to play the lead guitar parts without a capo, George plays both of these guitar parts on the 2 strings on a 12 string guitar that are strung in unison rather than one octave apart.

It’s very strange how we can have such different tastes. Some people are citing Run For Your Life and What Goes On as their favorites, whilst they’re two of my most hated songs in the band’s discography. I haven’t seen anybody disliking In My Life though, which is my favorite song of all time so obviously the same on this album. Anybody here dislike In My Life ?

he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

@yourmothershouldknow: I like Run For Your Life too. I remember reading that John said he didn’t like it, and was just a throwaway,an album filler, which surprised me to be honest. My favourite from Rubber Soul is Girl,I think it’s a brilliant song

In My Life touches my soul the most, so I’m going with that. Nowhere Man would be a close second.

Just for kicks and giggles, I went through all 15 pages of this thread to see how all of the songs did in terms of “favorite”. This was hardly scientific as there were some liberties taken on my part. There were many instances where someone listed more than one song as their favorite. In these cases, I went with the first one they wrote. In any event, here is the track list of the UK album with the number of “favorites” each one garnered.
Drive My Car – 3
Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) – 27
You Won’t See Me – 3
Nowhere Man – 16
The Word – 9 (good to know there are 8 others in The Forum that have good taste )
Michelle – 9
What Goes On – 1 (poor Ringo )
Girl – 20
In My Life – 35
Wait – 1 (no votes until this page! )
*2 votes for the opener on the American release.
How did your favorite rate?

Good to see that The Word doesn’t come last (though it should be first). But What Goes On shouldn’t be stone dead last.

I’m a huge fan of the Rubber Soul sound. Even though I rank other albums ahead of it, Rubber Soul ‘s sound would probably be my favourite. We Can Work It Out and Day Tripper , also recorded during these sessions, are just amazing. I’ve always felt that I Feel Fine would’ve easily fitted in with the track listing, too. Like the other songs on the album it’s so fun and full of life.

There are so many good songs I tend to go thru phases of one song over another, tho it’s yet to ever be ‘Nowhere Man ‘ or ‘Drive My Car ‘. Recently ‘Think For Yourself ‘ got into my being, it’s got such a biting lyric.

‘TFY’ is a tremendous song. It’s my second favorite on the album. For me, ‘TFY’ and ‘TW’ present a formidable 1-2 punch.

Well said. Revolver is my favorite, with Rubber Soul creating a photo finish. When I sit down to listen to full albums versus random songs, I rarely listen to the former without starting with the latter.

“Drive My Car ” is in my opinion the best song of this album. Another candidate would be “Nowhere Man “. This is a somewhat unusual Lennon composition. The guitar solo comes very early in the song, but it does not ‘break’ the flow of the song. The album as a whole is at number 4 in my personal top 5.

New to the forum, not sure how active it is now but my top 5 is probably:
3) In My Life
5) Michelle
Not a big fan of Nowhere Man , You Won’t See Me and What Goes On . George obviously has a lot of better songs after Rubber Soul but I think If I Needed Someone and Think For Yourself are quite underrated.
