Oddly @Oudis its songs like I’m Only Sleeping and Good Day Sunshine and And Your Bird Can Sing that bring back the time I first heard it. I remember being so surprised at those songs. I still think She Said She Said is criminally underrated.

Ahhh Girl Revolver … What an album. So good, I tried my hand at making a medley using these parameters: pick as close to 30 seconds of each song (in order) as possible, then twiddle some dials and produce a fantastic medley. Did it work? Yes. Purely thanks to how incredibly brilliant Revolver is as an album.
And I must confess: I just discovered I’m Only Sleeping . Boy, what a trip! Definitely one for the ‘Songs that make you feel high’ thread!

I want the Revolver super deluxe box set. With alternate covers, pictures that didn’t make the cut into the fonal artwork. The story behind the artwork narrated by Klaus.
The story of the recording sessions narrated by all living members implied in the process.
And of course alternate takes and as much chatter as possible.
Just an idea

I just love listening to them talk on Anthology… I think my favourite is the false starts on One After 909 when they’re going about their playing and Paul yells GEORGE, and they stop. That made me laugh so much…

That’s a good thought… as a big Revolver fan I’m interested. I want to say at the beginning, Paperback Writer is almost a good of opening as Taxman , has a similar feel, in my opinion. And Rain would be a good second song, more “out there” in terms of music and more serious lyrics, pull you even further into the REVOLVE. Or perhaps at the end, a song or two before Tomorrow Never Knows ? I think they would go well together.

Near the beginning sounds about right. I think Rain would really compliment I’m Only Sleeping.

I just listened to Yellow Submarine and George sounds so incredibly bored during the chorus
Also, for the record, the drums on She Said She Said are A M A Z I N G

What I like about John’s songs on Revolver (especially She Said She Said , And Your Bird Can Sing , Doctor Robert ) is how they feel part of an ongoing series with the same type of sound. And as said, Rain and I’m Only Sleeping go together very nicely. He definitely had an established sound for this album.

For sure. Lots of guitars and great drumming on John’s songs here, whereas Paul and George were dipping their toes into different types of instrumentation.

So did Paul due to George having two and Ringo one (if going by lead vocal). Revolver is the most balanced John and Paul album with 5 each, George has the higher than normal 3 (equaling ‘With The Beatles ‘) and Ringo 1. If you take ‘The Beatles’ as two LP’s due to it being a double album then ‘Revolver ‘ and ‘With The Beatles ‘ have the most George, which is pretty cool.

And then Capitol records butchered it, taking off I’m Only Sleeping , And Your Bird Can Sing , and Doctor Robert , so John had only 2 songs on the entire album. I wish they had actually thought about something other than making as much money as possible.

The Bright Side of this travesty was the emergence of George Harrison , the songwriter, for he had 3 songs featured on the U.S. ‘Revolver ‘… and shouldn’t the U.K. rightly deserve THE definitive version anyway?…:-)

It was more Capitol requested three songs to make a whole new album, as they had previous for, and as those three songs were complete they were sent over. I doubt any of the Beatles or their team gave it too much thought, having such disregard for whatever Capitol was shoving out. Though they all are guitar and drum songs so would fit in in a way with the older material. Would have been fun if they sent ‘Love You Too’, ‘Tomorrow Never Knows ‘ and ‘Eleanor Rigby ‘ due to how different they are.
