I, too, love Revolver . It does seem like a masterpiece. I also love the cover art. Thank you, Klaus Voorman!
My favorite 
song on Revolver : “She Said She Said .” The vocal is amazing, and I love the ending. (She said, she said, “I know what it's like to be dead” “I know what it's like to be dead” “I know what it is to be sad” “I know what it is to be sad” “I know what it's like to be dead” “I know what it's like to be dead”)
Favorite 
song: “For No One .” It's so heart-wrenching, and it brings me to the brink of tears. And then “Dr. Robert” starts and makes me jump.

song: “I Want To Tell You .” Love the fade-in. Love the lyrics. Love the harmonies on the fade-out. (My mom disagrees. She likes “Taxman ” better.)
And of course, I love
's song, except when my siblings insist on playing it ten thousand times in a row on Rock Band. Plus, it's the first Beatles song I heard.
By the way, anyone else think Revlolver should be made DLC on Rock Band?

to be honest, 's song didn't match the vibe that the rest of the album had. Still an amazing track, though.

Offline I know what you mean. I was listening to it once (late at night) and came up with one of my theories(yes, I have many Beatles theories): Revolver isn't an album, it's a state of mind. And I had almost every song explained — except “Yellow Submarine .” But it's a nice song Paul wrote for Ringo.

Offline I believe that Revolver is a masterpiece because it was when The Beatles started writing art instead of just a collection of songs.
The music became the canvas on which to paint the lyrics.

And I love Yellow Submarine !! It's fantastic!! I love the way Ringo sings it and how John has fun with it!! To me, it's the fun song that shows Beatles humor.. I just love it.

So Imagine being an American fan and getting Yesterday and Today which had songs from Help , Rubber Soul and Revolver on. I wonder if Beatles fans back then could seperate the different stages of The Beatles career on that one album? What a travesty!
That’s what it was like for me growing up on the Blue Album (Beatles 1967-1970) and then discovering the actual albums later on. Revolver has an odd quality of freshness and clarity to my ears, it’s always been new. It’s partly the production which manages the juxtaposition of such diverse songs coherently. It’s also something about the tonal and rhythmic range they used. They went heavy on the sevenths on many songs, and pick how many songs there are that use that Sgt Peppers vamp beat (think With A Little Help From My Friends ) with some slight variations, it’s quite surprising (5 by my count). Yet it doesn’t feel anything like Sgt Peppers, which also has 5 vamp beat songs. The more you look, the more there is a strong relationship between the two albums, its amazing.

Ya, I grew up on the Red (1962-1966) LP first and it had 6 hits from Rubber Soul on it, so it was a no brainer that it was an awesome album. Imagine if they threw in the companion 45 single, “We Can Work It Out ” & “Day Tripper ” on the R.B. album too. Whoa!
Talk about a creative LP. People claim Revolver is a better LP, but it had fewer hit’s (3) on the Red Album .

Offline Strangely there are only two tracks from Revolver on the Red Album and three in total from 1966, whereas there are 13 from 1965. Presumably when compiling the Red Album they felt the tracks from Revolver were better as part of the whole than separately (tho there is only one track from ‘With The Beatles ‘ and one from ‘Beatles For Sale ‘ so who knows). There was certainly space for additional material as the album lasts barely an hour.

Offline I’d never listened to Rubber Soul before I was 18 (like most of the albums) and I’ve mentioned elsewhere here that I grew up with either cheesy cover versions of Beatles stuff or the Blue Album (I never heard the Red) so I completely missed the best of Revolver AND didn’t pay attention to the Red Album because I thought I’d heard it all. So I don’t blame you @Bongo, I had to go look up what was actually on it just then too!
Another thing about Revolver : has anyone noticed that Doctor Robert is a rockabilly song slightly twisted more towards RnB but still recognizable as cousin to What Goes On ? Listen to the two back to back and notice how they took the traditional and messed with it. The melody floats over the rhythm instead of sitting inside it, they throw those sevenths at it and instead of country guitar solos have those little pauses (well, well well ) and have a guitar lick afterwards right in the verse. I particularly like John’s lower harmony on the fine. According to Pollack it’s also trying to trick you into thinking it’s in the key of A and not B major which is a sneaky thing to do to a rockabilly song!
