@castironshoreI think you’re overdoing it a little. @Ron Nasty wasnt insulting or rude to you at all IMO. And I didnt reffer to you to with my remark but to the overall complains of the content. And I just told you my philosophy: if I dont like it I dont buy it.
That didnt mean that we cant discuss what they could have or should have included in terms of BTS and Outtakes. Nobody ment to shut that or you off.
So….
With all due respect, there was nothing wrong with the complaints of the content, it’s just normal speculation and debate about the box. It doesn’t require your philosophy, no one is going to buy it if they don’t want to. It didn’t really require that kind of comment.
Personally i found your post a wee bit rude, and i suspect you knew there was a risk of that too or you wouldn’t have started it off with the words you did. It might have been better if you had posted something closer to what you just did. But i take your comments on board.
That apart, i am definitely getting tired of RN leaping on my posts over what seems pretty slender justification. It’s happened a few times now.

This talk of well, take 1 of ‘TNK’ is slightly longer so it’s fine. Sorry but it’s a slight upgrade. Take 2 sits unheard in the vaults, give us that as well. The selections are meagre and some easy to point as disappointing (an incomplete breakdown take for ‘IWTTY’, no ‘GDS’), especially when the physical product costs £130. It’s three discs worth of material for goodness sake, one of which is a new remix!!! As has been said elsewhere; this is a targeted vinyl release which has then been made available on CD.
It seems like we are to be happy and accept it or shut up; I’m not going to bow to Apple and quietly thank them for getting ripped off or be quiet whilst others slap Apple on the back. It genuinely seems they have finally realised that they can no longer recycle the same 217 or however many songs it is in the core catalogue on some compilation so it’s now a disc or two of outtakes spread over as many discs as possible at as high a price as can be justified but which still get people to think it’s worth it. Well done to Apple in some ways.
And it’s nonsense to say “well don’t buy it”. I’m a hardcore collector who wants outtakes and have longed for Apple to open the vaults, I should be allowed to say what we are getting is great to finally have but the price is ridiculous and the selections heavily disappointing in places. And as said previously: I will not be spending anywhere near £100 on this.
For me ‘AR’ was disappointing and ‘LIB ‘ almost a joke to the point where I wouldn’t waste £20 on it – God knows why we get to hear George talk about ordering cauliflower cheese over actual proper music – oh! he sings “cauliflower’ in the “Something ‘ rehearsal. Great.
Remember when we were talking about multiple discs filled with highlights from Twickenham and Apple, that died a death. Any sign of ‘LIB ‘ on DVD? We are heading down a path where the offerings are getting weaker whilst the price and hype goes up. But hey. New outtakes so

I understand the decision to match the CD contents to the vinyl contents, even if the former can hold more content. The vinyl market has increased in the last five to ten years, so it makes sense for a record company to pay attention to it.
I’m part of the CD generation, and will get that version instead, but I’d be annoyed if I wanted to buy the vinyl and it contained less content than the CD version.
Having the versions mirror each other moves the need to purchase both products.

From 17:30, a demonstration of Peter Jackson’s audio separation technology on Taxman . Absolutely incredible, one track with guitar, bass and drums split out with no bleed between instruments at all, and even the individual drums isolated.

Is it worth 150 dollars for 3 CDs of material in a bulky box that will take up too much space on your shelf?

It’ll be worth it to Kyle K, and certain others here on the forum; and not worth it to you, or myself, or to certain other others on the forum.
So that’s settled, then.

Well that sounds like Paul counting in “She Said She Said ” glad that’s sorted.
But other than the yellow submarine song work there is nothing here particularly revealing or not already on my bootleg (and there are some crackers of the revolver sessions) . Looking at that makes this ‘super deluxe’ set look quite skimpy. An extra few seconds on ‘tnk’ that was left of anthology… Haud me back.
I guess there’s a limited window now of people willing to spend this kind of cash, so no doubt apple will get to work on a ‘Rubber Soul ‘ set soon.

Ahead of these Deluxe releases, The Daily Beatle has Mike Carrera go through the discs to reveal what’s new, what’s partially new, and what’s already out there — whether legally or on bootleg. His look at Revolver appeared today. Obviously, spoilers contained.
I will note that he confirms the only track on the Sessions discs that isn’t either new or partially new is John’s writing demos of “He Said He Said/She Said She Said ” which have been floating around on bootleg since the ’80s.

This may be a daft wondering but the mono mix is same mono mix we have had since the album was released back in 1966, right? It hasn’t been remixed or altered in any way. So if we have the mono mix from the ‘Mono Masters’ box this is nothing new at all – ignoring they took the tape out of the box and took a fresh rip before pressing the button on the computer instead of just pressing the button on the computer.
Answering my own question, from the ‘Revolver – What’s New‘ article linked to above by Ron.
It does not present any difference and this mix has been very well documented for many years with each of its variations.
So it’s another waste of space.
How anyone can seriously try and justify the price tag is beyond me. Tho if anyone wants to buy me a copy I’ll happily accept it.
And, yes, when I get my copy I will be salivating over the outtakes and every second of sound contained.
If anyone is interested, samples of the first ‘YS’ demo and the unnumbered mix of ‘GTGYIML’ are available to hear on iTunes for free and available to buy for 99p each, and presumably if you buy the entire set for £29.99 (it may be the same on Amazon and the other download sites, I haven’t checked).

Just catching up on the past couple of pages of discussion here. Normally i’d wait to read reviews until hearing it myself, but as with other box sets that have come out recently at high prices, I will wait to see if the outtakes are formatted into a more affordable digital release.
At this point though I’ve fallen very far behind on the releases and may have some expensive catching up to do, If I dont end up just going with less savory route of downloading this music. I agree with most of the complaints that it just isnt a great value for the price which bums me out so much because Revolver is my favorite album ever.
After reading the official write-up, it looks like the tracklist was assembled with purpose and intention to showcase not only the development of the album, but the development of The Beatles sound and experimentation during this pivotal year for rock music. A couple of years ago I’d have been salivating over this release, and I still am in some ways, but I’m unsurprisingly disappointed and its partly killing my enthusiasm.
Not that anybody cares, I don’t either which is probably why I’ll end up preordering this thing at 3:00 am tonight.
*edited out the last part because i can’t figure out how to do a strike through on mobile

@sir walter raleigh, The outtakes won’t be made available separately for a lower price, Apple want you to pay for the entire set and so it’s £30 for everything digitally or £100+ for the physical product. From what I’ve read the Blu-ray content (Atmos etc) material will also be made available for download only at an additional cost (just under £50 is the price that’s been mentioned).
I also wouldn’t type your last sentence on here, promoting file sharing of legal content is not something Apple would like. I am very grateful for the offer but I will download this. The Beatles are a must have but I’m not getting ripped off for it.

Where are you seeing the $30 digital download? That’s very easily worth the price, especially when you compare The Beach Boys charging over 70$ on some of their late 60s and 70s box sets for a digital download.
Also i just edited out that last sentence, sorry if that’s poor forum etiquette but I agree its definitely something that’s better not to be publicly posted. It was meant to be a lighthearted quip in response to your “if someone gave it to me for free” comment.
