Ron posted about the rumours going around for a ‘Revolver ‘ deluxe and John’s ‘SINYC’ box set in the News thread but it’s good for the 60th anniversary ‘Revolver ‘ to have it’s own thread for all the rumours, conversations and complaints (the last mainly by me).
If a set does come out hopefully we are looking at multiple takes of each track, heading back to the ‘Pepper’ content and not to one of each as on ‘Abbey Road ‘. Two sixty minute CD’s of outtakes could easily hold 40 tracks going by three minutes a song so it would 1 x original album remixed, 2 x outtakes, 1 x 5.1 mixes etc.
What is there in the vaults that we know of that would be worth hearing?
Take 2 of ‘Tomorrow Never Knows ‘ – we have takes 1 (Anthology) and 3 (the released take), presumably also some of the tape loops in their unaltered elements.
The unedited ‘Doctor Robert ‘.
Take 3 of ‘And Your Bird Can Sing ‘ would be cool.
Would be cool to here why Paul walked out of the studio after the arguments recording ‘She Said, She Said’ if that was caught on tape.
Any of the earliest complete takes.
What else is there that we know is different to what was eventually released?
I’d like to see ‘Paperback Writer ‘ and ‘Rain ‘ included on the remix CD instead of being either ignored entirely or appearing on and taking up space on a sessions outtakes CD but cant see that happening.

I’ve heard different sounding versions of “For No One ” on bootlegs. The main thing for me would be to get the mono mix if they are putting it out again.

Beatlefan is a well respected, and the longest standing, Beatles magazine, having been constantly published bi-monthly since its founding in 1978. In that time it has built many connections with people connected — often very closely — to them, as a group and solo. They have been the first to break news on many occasions. If I remember correctly, they were the first, or one of the first, to report there were rumours of a Sgt. Pepper deluxe being on the way.
Too often what starts as Beatlefan reporting what they’re hearing rumours about we’re buying a few months later. To ignore their reporting they have sources who are saying a Revolver deluxe is on the way would be foolhardy as they are so often proved right.
It’s why I reported it in the News thread as soon as I saw it, and why The Daily Beatle — no slouch himself at being among those first with stories because of his sources — also felt it was worth drawing attention to. Beatlefan is a heavyweight, not just some site/Facebook/Twitter thought up by some Jeremy Hilary Boob PhD in his bedroom a few years ago.

No problem with it myself @Expert Textpert, if I don’t like the remix I have the original mix. I get them for unreleased material not the album remix.

I’m in it more for the unreleased tracks as usually there are better remixes out there already than whatever Giles comes up with.

I’m all about outtakes. The more of those the merrier.

Variety report that Apple and Universal Music have confirmed that a Revolver deluxe is on the way, with an official announcement due sometime in September, with details of the tracklisting and release date. Assuming Beatlefan were correct in their forecast of the release being due in late October we should get the official announcement by around mid-September as previous deluxe editions have been announced roughly six weeks before release.

This is really great news to hear! I thought there was talk of not being able to do such remixes for everything prior to Sgt. Pepper , due to technical constraints. But now, having one of the true revelatory albums given this deluxe treatment, that’s very impressive.

That doesn’t seem hugely unrealistic. The 31 outtakes are an interesting looking selection; some already released, a few circulating among collectors, but many of which appear new to us. Missing some things I’d like to have seen (like Tomorrow Never Knows‘ tape loops) but you can’t have it all (especially with Apple).
I’d imagine there’s a chance they’ll use the 2014 analogue mono remaster for CD4, or else a fresh remaster.
Makes sense that they’d use the EP trick again for the single. You fit it into where it came in the order of the recordings on the (first of) Sessions discs, while not tacking them onto the end of the stereo and mono albums.
There’s other things I’d like to see, so kind of hoping this is close but not quite it, but if it is I’m not looking at it thinking “Well, that could be a helluva lot better!”
