#minimalism #concepts

I felt like making an alternative tracklist would be fun.  I’m not saying this album is necessarily better than the actual release, but it’s cleaner, purer and close to the concept.  The songs I cut were good, but not as focused as the ones I kept on.  I put the most psychadelic songs in the beginning to initially overwhelm the listener instead of gently guide them in.  Needing a strong ending, I put the best song last.

I love the changes I made to the back cover as well.

My perfect track list for Revolver is just the way The Beatles put it out.

A better topic title would be “What would be your perfect Revolver track list?”.

I saw one a few years ago for every single Beatles song ever but let’s stay-on-topic

I’m so used to Revolver that I couldn’t change it otherwise it would sound wrong but Derek’s looks alright (although I don’t think the Paul songs should be separated from the John songs and stuck on the end as that makes it more like a John Lennon album with a bit of Paul instead of a Beatles album) a-hard-days-night-john-5

Good point.  I never intended it to be that way.  It just happened that Paul’s songs made a good coda , lol.

I did make a 2nd track list.  I’m not sure if it’s as good as the first one I made, but it’s more balanced.

Isn’t that the second track listing the same as the first?

I’ve changed the topic title to as suggested as it makes it more conversational and inviting than a statement can be.

It’s perfect in my eyes just as the Beatles released it and how I’ve loved it since I was a little girl. I’m not changing a thing.

As always, I dream of a version of the album with the concurrent Paperback Writer /Rain single included. Buy deciding where they should go is kinda tricky. Revolver is the only Beatles album with no consecutive tracks with the same lead singer and I’d like to preserve that. And keeping 8 tracks per side and leaving the “corners” (opening and closing tracks on each side) is also necessary. So the best way of doing that, as far as I can tell, is to have Rain between HT&E and YS on side one, and PR between DR and IWTTY on the other side. Thus creating the world’s GREATEST ALBUM EVER or close enough.

Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Actually, Rubber Soul also has no tracks with consecutive singers. As for my perfect tracklist on this album, it’s the same one we all know and love.

If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.

Well, you’re technically correct (the best kind of correct!) but I think of “Wait ” as a John lead vocal.

My take is, if an album with 14 perfect songs is great, why wouldn’t an album with 16 be greater?

Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

It’s about what tracks they use and don’t use as well as how they order the tracks. For example, if they put all of the tracks from the Abbey Road and Let It Be albums onto one album along with The Ballad Of John And Yoko , Old Brown Shoe , Don’t Let Me Down , You Know My Name (Look Up Then Number), If You’ve Got Trouble , Besame Mucho , Blue Suede Shoes/Rip It Up/Shake Rattle And Roll, Carnival Of Light , Paul’s Piano Intro, and the 26 minute version of Helter Skelter and call it Abbey Road , you’d probably be thinking they put too much tracks on there and would might also think that they should’ve arranged the tracks better.

If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.

My perfect Revolver tracklist is the way it is but I will tell you that my perfect Revolver listening experience is listening to Rubber Soul and Revolver back to back. It makes for a really great listen.

They’re a really strong one-two punch. Two 14 track albums released one right after the other, being a bridge between the early and late Beatles periods. Variety, experimentation and pop songcraft.  Love them both so much.
