A few years back, I was in Italy on the island of Capri when a group of 5-6 year olds walked by. They were singing “Yellow Submarine .”In my workplace, the one song people identify with the Beatles is “Yellow Submarine .”
A song with that kind of staying power is not garbage.
You might not like it. You might find it simplistic. You may not care that it’s joyous and fun. That’s fine – but garbage it isn’t.

Offline I always skip Yellow Submarine . Just doesn’t do anything for me. I agree with the people who have said that Rain should have replaced it on Revolver

Offline I think Rain would fit nicely on this album. I always thought it sounded similar to She Said She Said .

I actually kind of agree. Excuse my Taylor Swift analogy, but Yellow Submarine is like Shake It Off on 1989. It’s silly and juvenile in comparison to the rest of the album, but the album wouldn’t be the same without it.

There’s another unforgivable comparison. Paul’s Jane Asher songs and Taylor’s odes to her many exes.

Offline I agree. I bought this when it first came out as with every Beatles record up to Magical Mystery Tour . I’ve always felt that Yellow Submarine was out of place and if we’d had digital listening technology back then I’d have skipped it. It broke the album’s mood in the same way that Sloop John B was out of place on Pet Sounds. Rain would have fitted better and YS could have been the B side for Paperback Writer .
