What do youse guys think about I’m Only Sleeping ? I’m itching to discuss something, and I’ve just been thinking how beautiful this song is. The whole feeling of the song to me is Depression. “I’m just gonna stay here, watching other people going about their lives, no, I’m fine, I’m Only Sleeping “.

I looooooooove I’m Only Sleeping ! It’s such an amazing song. I don’t really interpret it as being depressing though. I get a more mellow sort of feeling from it, like “Oh, all these people are rushing around with their busy lives, but I don’t want to do that, I’m just going to lie here and sleep and maybe look out the window once in a while, isn’t it nice?”

I definitely get that vibe, too! It’s just my depressed state that makes me relate to a sadder side, I think.

I mean it’s not really the song itself, it’s just that this is one of the songs I listened to a lot when I was younger, so much younger than today, maybe between the ages of four and seven. I’m Only Sleeping , Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds , Penny Lane , Nowhere Man , and others all make me nostalgic.

I’m Only Sleeping is such a great song. My issue with it is the production. It sounds… odd? I dunno. But the snare sounds like anything other than a snare, the bass has no attenuation…
For the topic of the thread, it has to be And Your Bird Can Sing . Fab guitar playing, cool bassline… 2 minutes of pop perfection.

Although the upper range of the horn repertoire rarely exceeds high C (two octaves above the horn’s middle C, sounding F at the top of the treble clef), skilled players in a good symphony orchestra can achieve yet higher pitches.
The solo gets to a D#, a minor third above that high C (so he was skilled, and could get it).
I can only get to a G below that high C, and rarely an A (I got it for Sgt Pepper ).
So much like Penny Lane ‘s more famous ‘out of the range’ solo, For No One is also out of the range.
