I understand why ‘Now And Then ‘ is included on the expanded ‘Blue’ but I do find it odd that ‘RL’ and ‘FAAB’ were excluded. I think it makes more sense to either include them all or none. The 2016 remixes of the two other reunion tracks are far better than the 1995/6 mixes and the technology nowadays is even more impressive.

Probably would’ve made the most sense to include it as the opening track on a new edition of “Anthology 3 “, but I doubt Apple has any more use for those releases – especially since much of “Anth 3″‘s contents have since shown up on the deluxe box sets of White/Abbey Road /Let It Be .

There was talk at one point about a potential Anthology 4 with Now And Then and other unreleased material cleaned up with AI.

“(…And they’re still gonna call it “1967-70” even though it’s got stuff from 1977 and 95, and even 2023, huh. They might’ve thought to tweak the title to “66-70 +”, or something, at least.)”
Good point!

@Joe
Thank you for that new track list.
On the one hand, I don’t think anyone cares anymore except for (as mentioned above) people whose first Beatle albums were these compilations.
However … assuming you do care (maybe you’re into vinyl and these WILL be your first albums), there are now some classic songs that definitely belong on a “best of.”
I’m thinking of “Here, There, and Everywhere,” “Blackbird , ” “Twist And Shout ” … and my sentimental favorite, “Hey Bulldog !”

It’s nice to see George get a bit more of the spotlight on the ‘Red’ album. I’d have thought Ringo might have got another number but what song of his should be here? ‘IWBYM’ because of the influence upon the Rolling Stones? It’s not a great argument.
I would have liked to have seen something else from BFS’; ‘No Reply ‘ or I’m A Loser ‘ would have been good choices.

Act Naturally , perhaps, Both for his love of country and for the rap his acting received.

There are already a good number of ‘Help !’ tracks tho.

Not really. There’s only the two singles plus Yesterday and Hide Your Love Away as album tracks. They haven’t added anything for the new version as far as I can see. That’s compared with seven each from Rubber Soul and Revolver . Help ! is doing better than Beatles For Sale , though, which only has Eight Days A Week , but I hesitate to suggest Honey Don’t as Ringo track.

I always think ‘You’re Going To Lose That Girl ‘ is on this because its side two and I grew up with the mixed-up pre-1987 ‘Help !’ cassette which started side two with ‘Help !’, ‘YGTHYLA’ and ‘YGTLTG’. Apologies.
I could have sworn this was a 3 CD release, surprised therefore to find it’s still 2 CDs. Tho I’m trying to work out how you fit 22 songs on one CD, seems a lot. But then ‘1’ has 27.
Why on the LPs are the new tracks separated? Looks like a bonus disc and seems stupid, especially with the CDs fully chronological.

Unfortunatly the german retailers have trouble shipping the copies. despite them beeing PRODUCED in GERMANY
So amazon.de promised me to deliver them today. Until today I received word that they wont. it is unclear when they will ship. I’ve checked local retailers, no stock to buy them. I’ve ordered from a second online retailer now. We’ll see how that will work out! I dont get why they are so hard to get. Same happend to the Now And Then Singles which were prodcued in Germany too.

Not yet got the albums as on my Xmas list, but surprised no one has commented on any of the remixes after 24 hours. The only thing I’ve heard mentioned elsewhere is a real divide over I Am The Walrus – many saying incredible mix until the radio comes in and then opinion is divided – bringing out elements buried whilst burying the “Sit you down father, rest you” speech.

This is why I’ve been largely sitting out all the remixes. I’d rather just hear them as I’ve always heard them.

The nice thing about the Red LP, is half of Rubber Soul is on there now, and sound incredible. The rest is hit & miss.
As for the blue LP, other than “Now & Then” & “I Am The Walrus “, the rest of the mixes are from Giles previous Abbey Road , White, Pepper & Revolver releases.
I prefer the way they added the extra songs on LP3, instead of mixing them within the songs on the CDs.
Biggest disappointment is not including RAIN. This Boy over Rain ??? WTF??????????
BEATLES Music gives me Eargasms!
