Hello everybody. After listening to Please Please Me since I first heard it last summer, I’ve really grown to appreciate the vocals on the album. I love the Lennon’s lead vocals on “Baby, It’s You”, along with Paul and George’s backing vocals, and the rawness of John’s voice on the final track, “Twist And Shout “. What are your favorite vocals from their debut album?

Twist And Shout is obviously a great one. Actually, I like all of John’s vocals on the songs recorded in that session – Baby It’s You , Anna, Misery … all great. You can tell he has a head cold every time he opens his mouth, but it adds a bit of rawness to his voice.
I also love Paul’s high harmony vocals on There’s a Place – “… and it’s my mi-ind… and there’s no ti-ime …”
And even though I’m generally not a great fan of Ringo’s songs, I think Boys is another one of my favourites on PPM . For me it’s the best vocal he gives on any of his Beatles songs.

Apart from Twist And Shout , Baby It’s You , Ask Me Why , and Anna have nice raw vocal from John. I also love the backing vocals from John and Paul on Do You Want To Know A Secret , and Boys .
And if you saw my love, I'll love her to.

I love Anna because of the beautiful way John sings it. He had this knack of getting emotion across that was just sublime sometimes, and this is a good early example.

Anna and Ask Me Why are currently my fave tracks on this as John’s vocals on both are so good, and as Emily said the emotion he injection.

Twist And Shout of course, but John’s voice on “Anna” is amazing too. Oh! And I love the harmonies on “Please Please Me ” and “Do You Want To Know A Secret “.

Can’t decide between “Twist And Shout ” and “Anna”.
Really, there are times when I wish John recorded ALL his vocals with a terrible head cold/sore throat!

Either I Saw Her Standing There , love Paul’s vocals in it, but not favorite, or There’s a place. Again I love how John and Paul sing harmony and also that little part with George, “Don’t you know that it’s so.”

Either Twist And Shout or P.S. I Love You.
My favorite part in P.S. I love you is when Paul sings, “You know I want you to remember…” then John comes in for a short while.

It is just something about, to tell you the truth, I always lip sink that part when I listen to it.

‘Twist And Shout ‘ is one of the greatest vocals ever recorded, so IGNORING the brilliance of that — ‘There’s a Place’ for me. The harmonies, the overall delivery of the lyric is wonderful.

Every song that John songs lead on. Just ranking those performances would be difficult. I just love the way John does Ask Me Why , very underrated performance. There’s A Place , Twist And Shout , Please Please Me , so many brilliant vocals by John.

Welcome to the forum johnlennonsrhythmguitar! Why don’t you introduce yourself – https://www.beatlesbible.com/f…..on-thread/ I haven’t!
I have to say, even though John’s vocals on Twist And Shout are marvellous, I think that Paul singing I Saw Her Standing There is great. He never flubs a note and, possibly helped by it being the first take of the song and still early in the morning, he manages to deliver a clear. powerful vocal that sounds as if he isn’t even trying. The use of John singing backing vocals helps the song greatly, and his high falsetto is a famous characteristic of the Beatles early years. What a great start to their debut record!

Hands down, Twist And Shout . One of the greatest rock performances ever. I always listen it on my way to somewhere fun, it’s amazing in building tension with everyone going “aaaaah – AaaaaAaaAah- AAAAAAAAAAAHHHH- WOAAAAHHHHHH”. And that same thing with the ending, geez.
Other than that, Anna is a fantastic song with fantastic singing. And of course, I Saw Her Standing There . Love their screaming!
