Most people think Please Please Me was their first recorded album, but My Bonnie was recorded before this one. The album has a different lineup (see below), contains only one lead vocalist, consists mostly of covers and was recorded live (similar to MC5’s debut). The lineup is as follows:
Tony Sheridan: Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar
John Lennon : Rhythm Guitar, Backing Vocals
Paul McCartney : Bass Guitar, Backing Vocals
George Harrison : Lead Guitar
Pete Best: Drums
I personally think that Please Please Me is their true debut, as I consider Ringo the best drummer of all time (though I don’t think he can sing as good as John, Paul, or George), but I want to know what you think.

Please Please Me is the first album. My Bonnie is a Tony Sheridan album. The Beatles don’t even appear on most of the songs.

My Bonnie is a Tony Sheridan album. The boys merely sang backup on a couple of songs and credited as The Beat Brothers. Please Please Me will always be considered the first album.
Even John said: “It’s just Tony Sheridan singing, with us banging in the background. It’s terrible. It could be anybody.”
“She wasn't doing a thing that I could see, except standing there leaning on the balcony railing, holding the universe together.” - J.D. Salinger

Because the album has The Beatles on it and it was recorded before Please Please Me . It’s not a good album, don’t get me wrong (especially from the people who gave us Sgt. Pepper or Abbey Road ), but some of the songs are on Anthology.

The My Bonnie album was first released in Germany on the Deutsche Grammophon label in roughly May 1962 (its release is mentioned in 3 May edition of Mersey Beat), and in that way, as with the My Bonnie single, it can be said to predate any Parlophone release, and you can call it the first (uncredited) appearance on an album.
It is impossible to call it a Beatles album though. Firstly, the aim of the album is to present the artist it was credited to, Tony Sheridan, and not his anonymous backing band (the Beat Brothers), who appeared in more than line-up to show they were just considered interchangeable backing musicians; secondly, and most importantly, The Beatles only feature on two of the twelve tracks (My Bonnie and The Saints; the version of Sweet Georgia Brown predates The Beatles recording of a backing track for it that Sheridan would later overdub as they would not record their backing track until 24 May, which was after the album was out, and if they ever did record a Swanee River backing track it was at the same session).
It was only after their success that the albums came that collected together all the recordings believed to feature The Beatles and putting their name above Sheridan’s, attempting to give the picture it was a much more equal thing.
The original album was a Tony Sheridan album on which The Beatles backed him on 2 of 12 tracks. It’s hard to think of any way that could be described as their debut album.
