Fortunately I’m in the UK already!
I didn’t know it was only the first UK White Album pressings that had the black inner sleeves. I know there are tons of other little variations and anomalies (eg the misplaced Apple on the back of Abbey Road , the early Revolver with the wrong Tomorrow Never Knows mix). I’m not going down that particular rabbit hole.

Yes, if I’m remembering correctly, it’s only the UK first pressings that have the black inner sleeves, and I believe the UK first pressings also had covers that opened at the top (ie where you removed the record & inner sleeve)…all subsequent pressings opened at the sides.

Yeah. The new mono White Album LP is going to open at the top not at the sides; its something they are bragging about.

Were did you hear this mmm? They seem to beat around the bush about a lot of the LP details. Same with the pic of the LP covers leading you to believe they are flip back covers. They could be flipped inside to look like the 2012 set, for all we know.

I’ve read it in a few places – not that i can find them now – however looking at the video Apple have put out @2:06 the inserts come out the side.

If so, that’s weird because on the mono CD box, it definitely opens at the top (here’s a photo of mine): https://flic.kr/p/dxCSYQ

This is Apple, they probably didn’t bother to check the LP in the video was the correct mono. They normally get something wrong when releasing a new product, lets just hope the video clip is it this time.

Ya, that’s what I mean. Very clever advertising for getting people in a frenzy to pre-order. Also curious if they will be numbered LP’s or just a standard number put on all of them. Time will tell…..

Pete Nash from the British Beatles Fan Club has done an unboxing video for the mono vinyl box. It’s half an hour long but worth a look. I was in two minds about buying this but I’m more tempted now.

Try to sell your 2012 Stereo LP set while they are still worth something, ’cause we all know it a couple of years they will re-release the Stereo set in Analog!
Don’t say I didn’t warn you!!!!!!
Now saying that, it is nice to see that they actually did make them more like the originals, like the flip over rear covers, including the inside flip over of Sgt. Pepper and more importantly the White Album is opened on top and numbered like the original.
Damn, now I want it!!!!!!!!!!

Received the box today – hurrah!
It is superb – and now my ‘go-to’ albums, incredible quality, and I have quite a modest hi-fi set up.
I can’t recommend them enough – the quality of the pressings is incredible – no noise between tracks, everything sits just perfectly in the mix, a massive improvement over the Mono CD’s.
I think they’ve listened to the criticism of the stereo vinyl releases, I hope Bongo’s right about a re-release, but I can’t see it.

Listening to With The Beatles – drums, vocals, guitars clear as daylight – much improved over the CD. This from an album which is arguably the ‘muddiest’ mix of all.
Favourite is I Wanna Be Your Man , George’s guitar phrasing on the chorus cuts through really well, can really ‘feel’ the amp. Vocals of all Beatles are easily distinguishable and defined, same can be said for whole album.
Brilliant.

Onto Magical Mystery Tour – Everything sits just right. The mono cd really sounds brittle by comparison.
Magical Mystery Tour the best I’ve heard it, what a mix – drums and percussion all make sense now, really coherent. Trumpets have depth, vocal effects ace.
The Fool On The Hill has bags of punch, piano and vocals clear, plus the maracas blend in really well.
Flying /Blue Jay Way were always cut from the same cloth and to me were always a bit too disjointed in stereo, much improved now, even over the mono cd. I really don’t feel like I’m listening to mono.
Your Mother Should Know always sounded really ‘phasey’ in mono, still does but nowhere near as much. I always thought it sounded really week when the drums progress from the introduction but not so now.
I Am The Walrus still sounds so far out there I keep hearing new things anyway.
Hello Goodbye – you know how the guitar dominates the (messy) stereo version, not here.
Strawberry Fields Forever – DRUMS! Never noticed handclaps over ‘nothing to get hung about’ (unless it’s a scratch!)
Penny Lane – I can hear the bass drum!!!!!!! Also weird is the age old similarity between John and Paul’s voices – more so here.
Baby You’re A Rich Man – BASS!!! Bloomin’ eck, the walls are rattlin’ !!!!! That Godawful clavioline is a lot quieter.
All You Need Is Love – the opening seems really busy, not empty like the stereo. Bass is a lot quieter too. I can hear the bass drum!!!!!!!
I didn’t mean to do all this, but if it helps anyone who’s wondering if it’s worth going for any of the LP’s?????

Bongo@Oyster Black Pearl Do you have any of the original 60s mono albums? I’m interested in whether these sound that much better in comparison.
I’m still unsure as to whether to buy this set or get the remaining originals I need – the box looks lovely but money’s quite tight at the moment.
