Dang, why do people hate this so much? I consider it genius. It’s really fantastic. I guess if you don’t like it, don’t listen to it, but I love it.

Hate is too strong a word for me but knowing and compared to what Apple could release its a massive disappointment. Plus fans have created far better mash-ups than Apple did.

Hmmm. I’ve only seen one fan mashup, and I didn’t think it was as good as Love, where can I find some of your favorite other ones. I really love mashups

Love is one of the very interesting projects ever done, and although I don’t have it on my cellphone right now, I am a big fan of it. All its 26 tracks (28 with the iTunes bonuses) are an amazing, breath-taking, worth-while experience through The Beatles history is such an unique way, it should be done again. I would personally do some mashups too, but I need that creativity these guys had lead by George & Giles Martin.

One of the things that I really disliked about the ‘Anthology’ albums was the splicing together/mashing of different takes (‘Yes It Is ‘ etc.) throughout and the ‘LOVE’ album just takes this bad idea to begin with and runs with it.  With so much potential lying around in the vaults for remastering/unreleased projects etc., it puzzles me that they’d opt for this direction instead.

You have to look at it for what it is, and what it sets out to be. The disappointment in Anthology, for fans at least, was that we wanted straight outtakes and not modern concoctions. We would happily have greeted a far longer set that had multiple takes, but they sought something more commercial to a wider audience who wouldn’t want a dozen takes of the same. I don’t like what they did, I consider they created their own outfakes, but I understand it.

Love, however, is a totally different deal and should not be held up against Anthology for comparison. It was intended as a soundtrack for a stage show. Nothing more, nothing less. Had they not released it, we would have been complaining about having to put up with bootleg versions.

Were there other things they could, and should, have been doing? Yes, of course, but none of those would have provided a soundtrack for a stage show. It is what it is, and I rather like it.

I’m glad that many of you get something worthwhile out of it, but it doesn’t exactly make me want to go see the show or anything, in fact I’d probably pass on it if it ever came near my neck of the woods.  I feel the same way about the whole ‘LOVE’ production that some of you feel about Beatles Tribute Bands, but that’s just me.  Some dig what Giles Martin did here but I personally think that it’s one big sloppy mess that’s all over the place, but maybe that’s its charm for some.  I can tell you that being a regular ‘Beatles RockBand’ player that ‘Tomorrow Never Knows /Within You, Without You’ rarely gets chosen, eventhough it’s probably one of the more “tolerable” ‘LOVE’ tracks, in my opinion.  I’m all for hearing different versions of the originals, but I feel as though Giles played more of a DJ role that I personally don’t think gels with the music of The Beatles particularly well, remember ‘Stars On Long Play’?  or, ‘Stars On 45’?  The only reason that ‘LOVE’ may be a slight “upgrade” on that is that Giles had access to a whole new generation of technology that would’ve been considered from another planet back then and was given the actual Beatles’ masters to work with, but it’s the same mix/mash, or recycling of something that need not be recycled, in my opinion…:-)

I really don’t want Love 2: The Sequel. Fair enough, the first is the soundtrack to the show (which is meant to be fabulous but i’ve never seen it nor plan to) so shove it out and stop the bootlegs appearing (not that they don’t still exist, ie Loveology) but what point would a second have?

Love 2: The Sequel.

There was a quote from the press recently in regards to what’s still left in the vaults to fortify future releases for Apple, something like “Apple’s scraping the bottom of the barrel” and this must’ve been what they were talking about…:-)

I suppose the point of a sequel is that it would make Apple money from idiots like me who would buy it. Why do we do this? And humans are meant to be intelligent!

Love is absolutely amazing. I play it whenever I feel low and it always seems to bring a smile to my face (apart from I Want To Hold Your Hand – see spoiler), since I notice new little things each time. George and Giles’ work on this was absolutely genius. I adore it with all my heart.

*I should note that I have a tough time listening to this song for certain reasons. I can’t really listen to it without cringing, not because I dislike the song, but because I played it to this girl and oh god i hate myself

I like LOVE.  I mean, I’d rather listen to a real Beatles album over LOVE any day of the week, but it’s a well-done mashup album.  The mixing/mastering on it is excellent, too.  They really did a good job getting the best sound quality possible on these forty- to fifty-year-old recordings.  Sorry, I’m just a bit nerdy about that sort of stuff.

I'm Necko.  I'm like Ringo except I wear necklaces.

I'm also ewe2 on weekends.

Most likely to post things that make you go hmm... 2015, 2016, 2017.

I really enjoy listening to Love and do so quite frequently. The album is a great way to revisit old songs in a new way and I have nothing but respect for the job George and Giles did!

Actually, I was wondering if the version of She’s Leaving Home that was remixed for Love has ever been released in some form? I would love to hear it as it’s one of my favourite tracks from Sgt. Pepper ‘s. (I apologize if this question has been asked before.)

According to Wikipedia:

“[Giles] also said that he and his father mixed more music than was eventually released, including “She’s Leaving Home” and a version of “Girl” that he was particularly fond of which was eventually released in 2011 as a bonus track on the album on iTunes.”

I ended up doing some more research on the Love bonus tracks and stumbled upon this entry on The Beatles Rarity. Apparently there are even more unreleased tracks used as filler for when something in the show goes wrong. The sad part is that there seems to be no way of obtaining them outside of witnessing a screw-up at the show first hand!

Whatever the delay, a mechanism needs to be in place to allow for extra time to get it fixed without the audiences’ awareness that there is even a problem. That is why there are “delay-fillers” that are ready to put in place during the transitions. This serves to afford the needed time to get whatever the problem is, taken care of. The delays are handled using “bonus tracks” of Love music that were not released on the CD account of the show. “She’s Leaving Home,” mentioned in James’ question, is one of these “filler” or “time-buying” tracks. Others that were not released on the CD or as Itunes bonus tracks include “Yellow Submarine ,” “Twist And Shout ,” “Flying ” and “All Together Now .” Aside from these five musical extras, there are two more tracks of studio chatter used as “delay-fillers” too, bringing the total account of bonus tracks up to seven. Aside from these seven, there are two Itunes exclusive bonus tracks for Love that are not included on the 26-track CD – “The Fool On The Hill ” and “Girl.”

Chiming in late here and I don’t mean to threadcrap, but I’ve vehementaly disliked Love from the moment I first heard it when it was released. The first time I heard a bit of it was when I heard one of the bastardized versions on the radio and nearly drove my car off the road. (Yes, I know it was done for the Cirque de Soleil show but still, I hate hate HATE it!)

I Want To Hold Your Hand bugs the hell out of me; edited down and overlaid with concert screams which make me want to stop the track and clean it. blue-meanie Piece of pointless garbage.

I have always been a hater of remixes! Always have been. But when I heard Love, I loved it! George and Giles Martin did awesome on the album! I had no idea. Despite this, I still am not sold on the whole remix idea (particularly it’s associance with rap and modern pop-Ugh!(

By hook or by crook, I'll be last in this book.
