Offline As a Beatles purist, I expected to hate this album. I'd heard George Martin had been hired to mash up the original Beatles' recordings for Cirque, and I thought “oh man, this is going to be an absolute mess… George, how could you do it??”
Then I heard a sample — the brilliant blending of “Tomorrow Never Knows ” with “Within You Without You “, and I thought “I should have known better!”
George Martin and his son Giles did a magnificent job, for the most part anyway, and there are times I actually prefer these recordings to the orginal releases… not always mind you, I go back and forth. But there are some brilliant moments — like mixing Eric Clapton's guitar from “While My Guitar Gently Weeps ” into “Lady Madonna ” — it fits perfectly! And all the various songs that are blended into the extended extro of “Strawberry Fields Forever ” sound fantastic. I also love some of the transitions, such as when “Gnik Nus” slides into “Something ” and most especially, when “Hey Jude ” slows down while Paul counts in the “Sgt Pepper ” Reprise. And it's absolutely fantastic to finally hear a proper stereo mix of “Revolution “.
There are a few noisy moments that didn't quite work, I thought, such as the blending of the “Polythene Pam ” drums into “Octopus's Garden”. But overall, I just love LOVE…. and the finest moment is undoubtedly “While My Guitar Gently Weeps “… I actually choke up sometimes when I listen to this version.

Offline Ive never felt anything good for the Love version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps . It sounds like George is playing with some piece of orchestral work being recorded next door at the same time. Give me the naked demo.

I think the same.. I like much more the song without the violins and stuff. George's voice and acoustic guitar is enough for me
And I think this album is so beautiful! “Tomorrow Never Knows /Within You Without You ” is so magical. I just love it.
“Drive My Car “/”The Word “/”What You're Doing” is just so fun. And like someone said: it needs more of “The word” I get upset just listening to that tiny part. I mean, It's a great song! Great version though.
Gnik Nus: Woah.
“Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!”/”I Want You (She's So Heavy)”/”Helter Skelter ” The end is so… I just can't get enough of it!
Lady Madonna : I don't listen to the orginal version very often. But I love this one.
“Eleanor Rigby (with “Julia ” transition). Really good version. But It gives me goosebumps when I listen to the “voices” when Eleanor Rigby begins and ends and then those sirens…. (I know it's silly) but I can see clearly in my mind John in a form of spirit playing Julia , with her mom, and when the sirens start I can see Julia being hit by the truck or car or whatever. CREEPY

Offline I haven’t seen the show, but this CD is a good ‘stand-alone’ album, if you see what I mean. It’s good to hear new takes on the songs- and for the most part, they are excellent. There are lots of brilliant moments, but my favourite is at the end of ‘Here Comes The Sun ‘, when the backing of ‘The Inner Light ‘ plays. I know it sounds weird, but it makes me imagine George and Olivia joining hands and walking off into the sunset.😀

Offline ‘Love’ just blew my mind.
I mean ‘All You Need Is Love ‘ is on right now and it’s the PERFECT song to end this incredible piece of art that I just experienced. Ever since I became a Beatles fan about 6 or 7 years ago I knew that they were something special. From the moment I heard Abby Road until now I have become more and more a fan of these guys.
The thing I love about ‘Love’ is that it’s a great homage to this band. It’s the best ‘Greatest Hits’ I’ve ever listened to! I’m so glad I listened to all their albums (anthologies and all) before I listened to this because it made it that much more special to me. I was taken through everything I loved about this band. I went from listening to it and browsing the internet to closing my eyes and just going a long for the ride. I even stopped looking at the track listing so I’d be surprised at what happened next! I must see this show.
I think the mix really shows how incredible these guys were and how positive their music is. There were some surprises (I was shocked that ‘What You’re Doing ‘ was there and the ‘Hey Bulldog ‘ riff made me start to fist pump 
) and “Here Comes The Sun ‘ and ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps ‘ both almost brought tears to my eyes (but they didn’t succeed…how manly of me!) I dunno, I think ‘The Beatles’ are one of the best. I’m so glad that I am a fan and that album is something I won’t listen to often because I want to retain it’s magic.
So 2 thumbs up for me! I was actually never going to pick it up until I found this site and since you guys said it was it was good I decided to get it. I haven’t been through this much emotion listening to a record in a LONG time. There were some bits (or songs) I didn’t enjoy as much but overall I thought it was a great package. I will be playing it for my friends who wonder why I love this band because it’s all there.The harmonies, the riffs, the lyrics, the orchestration (thank you George Martin!), the humor, and above all else the love.
Try to realize it's all within yourself, no one else can make you change....

Offline I find it quite enjoyable. It was the first CD with Beatles songs on it that I ever owned, specifically picked because it had the greatest number of songs I was interested in that was in my price range at the time. I had learned of a few of the songs on a movie that I had watched, but the movie didn’t play the entire songs, so I was left incredibly curious. The result of me getting the CD was slightly problematic because I did not know that they had used various intros and the like for some songs. The ones that I had never heard in their entirety before then threw me for a loop upon hearing the original recordings. I became fascinated by “Strawberry Fields Forever ” (welcome to how I got my username), mainly because the “Love” CD has a unique sound when played through a decent pair of headphones. I felt as though the sound was moving from one ear, through my skull, to the other, then back again. I learned of “Octopus’s Garden “, as well as several other songs that I simply hadn’t found out about yet. One of the best things that could have happened to me in that time of my Beatles fascination was purchasing that CD.

Offline Every song is nice to hear in the album, but I have to mention that since I only listen to most of the tracks in Mono if available, the Hey Jude bass riff sounds nice, and this is the only time I could listen to it.

Offline I just got this a few weeks ago. Can’t believe I went so long dismissing it as something I wouldn’t care to have in my collection. IMO mashups are a fun novelty at best, and completely terrible at worst. I can honestly say that I can listen to this entire album without wanting to skip a track, even if there are sooooome parts that sound a little forced.
Within You Without You /Tomorrow Never Knows is probably my favorite, but I like most of the tracks pretty well. Octopus’s Garden was a surprise. I didn’t expect to like it as much as I did. Jury is still out on the added orchestral bits in While My Gitar Gently Weeps, but it doesn’t ruin the song for me, so that’s something.

Offline Took time to grow on me. First time I absolutely hated it, but then I could see that some tracks weren’t so bad. Don’t listen to it much, though.

Offline The highlights for me are the Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite!/I Want You (She’s So Heavy)/Helter Skelter , mainly due to the ending when it takes off, Octopus’s Garden ,its just so dreamy at the beginning, and the two iTunes bonus tracks; The Fool On The Hill and Girl. I used to love Within You, Without You/Tomorrow Never Knows but someone ruined it by head-bopping to it.
I find the Blackbird intro to Yesterday pointless and I Want To Hold Your Hand should be thrown in the bin.

Offline I’ve tried to open up to this one but I’m just not getting it. The album certainly has some moments throughout. I’ve never been a fan of “mash-ups” to begin with and this would be Beatles ‘Mash-Up Heaven’ I suppose. I’m sure that Giles Martin has learned many tricks of the trade from his Father over the years, but surely they could’ve been put to better use than this. One of the things that I really disliked about the ‘Anthology’ albums was the splicing together/mashing of different takes (‘Yes It Is ‘ etc.) throughout and the ‘LOVE’ album just takes this bad idea to begin with and runs with it. With so much potential lying around in the vaults for remastering/unreleased projects etc., it puzzles me that they’d opt for this direction instead. This has the potential to be some youngster’s first ever Beatles’ album and could sour him/her for life on ever taking them seriously afterwards, the ‘LOVE’ album makes even ‘Let It Be ….Naked’ look good, in my opinion…:-)
