What about “Get Back ?”

Or do you mean the song itself?

If I seem to act unkind, it's only me, it's not my mind that is confusing things.

I dont think anything that George Martin didn't produce is there.

GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

That would make sense seeing as how this was his baby.george-martin

Why did George Martin use predominately late era recordings?

Without seeing the Cirque du Soleil show, I’ve always thought that there was a sort of story to the way the songs were set up. It starts off with a guy from some era, maybe the 60’s, who is caught up with all of these incredible things. He maybe tries drugs and experiences some fun things, like the I Want To Hold Your Hand song and the Drive My Car combination. But something happens to him and things get a little freaky like with the Mr. Kite song, then suddenly he needs Help ! Someone is there to help him with the gentlest song ever with the Blackbird /Yesterday combination. I’m not sure what happens after that, but it ends up with All You Need Is Love . Or maybe I’m just looking too far into things.

Because there was more variation in the later songs and the individual parts were easier to extract.

I have been lucky enough to see Love twice in Las Vegas.

The choreography/gymnastics set to the Beatles music is mind blowing and the sound is superb.

@Von Bontee said
Exactly, this is just a semantic issue. It’s not one of the canonical studio albums, but it’s got their name on it, and it’s got actual Beatles recordings on it, so it’s a Beatles album. Simple as that.  Whether or not any surviving Beatle (or Beatle-widow) had ANY input as to the contents or assembly or packaging is irrelevant.

So does that mean that Everyday Chemistry counts as a Beatles album?

No, because nobody who had even slightly any association with the Beatles (or EMI… or Capitol… or Apple… or Vee-Jay… or Sony/ATV… or Harrisongs…) had anything to do with the album.

But he was saying that the people who made it didn’t need any association to the Beatles, it just had to be music that they recorded.

What @Von Bontee was suggesting, I think, @William Shears Campbell, was that, whether The Beatles approved or not (though we know they and their representatives did)), the music contained was by The Beatles and it was an official release.

Everyday Chemistry falls down on the score that it was an unofficial fan remix of negligible quality.

I would LOVE (weak pun intended) for Giles to do the same with the earlier solo output to around 1973, using just, and only just the ex-Beatles’ contributions and no sidemen featured at all. And no, not “Everyday Chemistry” which is clever but doesn’t cut it with access to the multi-tracks.

‘Love’ was decent but the time has passed, move on.

And leave the solo stuff alone, we don’t need John somehow harmonising on ‘Band On The Run ‘ whilst George adds a solo. Every bit as hideous as Paul and Ringo going back and overdubbing new instruments on anything John and George once played on to get the same end goal. Both stink of some hatchet job to create some of the magic one more final time (until the next) to soothe our need of new Beatles material.

Taking a Paul bass line from 2023 adding new Ringo drums from 2021 and overdubbing 984 scraps of John singing which were dumped on the floor with 45 guitar flubs from George edited together to create one pile of pretty sounding vomit will always be vomit.

I dread the day when we get a new live Beatles show starring the original Beatles thanks to the wonders of modern technology. I’m a little surprised the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra haven’t yet done their official Beatles overdub album as they seem to be appearing with everyone else. No doubt someone would be excited by new scores for ‘Yesterday ‘, ‘IATW’, ‘SFF’ and whatever else they throw in, no doubt ‘Imagine ‘ because that’s almost a Beatles song.

The last time I listened to Love I just remember being extrely unfulfilled and wanting to go listen to the songs in full.  It’s stopped me from listening to it since.

Love is an album – a remix album

Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl is an album – a live album

Past Masters Vol. 1 is also an album – a compilation album

1 is an album – a greatest hits album

We don’t have to consider Love as canon, but it is still a Beatles album for better or worse.  (better imo, because it’s an interesting listen and the Cirque de Soleil show was pretty awesome too!)

I reaffirm what I said here.  I think most of what I enjoy about this album comes from nostalgia as this was the second Beatles album I ever listened to, the first being 1.
