Thought it would be an idea to post some BBC tracks the Beatles recorded between ’62 and ’65 that didnt appear on Live At The BBC be it alternate versions or unique tracks. There are quite a lot and im sure a few will have popped up elsewhere on the forum before. The BBC recordings are one of my favourite genre’s of the beatles catalogue (hopefully using the word ‘genre’ in the right context for all the grammar folks of the site).
I Got A Woman (Saturday Club – 4th April 1964). A more loose swinging version of I Got A Woman , the beatles recorded 2 versions, the other for Pop Go The Beatles in 1963 is on the official LP). John flubs the words so no surprise Apple didnt use it (thank God they didnt do a crappy edit ala Don’t Let Me Down on Let It Be Naked in 2003)
And I Love Her (Top Gear – 16th July 1964). A kind of hybrid between Take 2 on Anthology and the album cut we all know and has a lyric change here and there by Paul.
I’m Talking About You (Saturday Club – 26/3/63). A stable of the Beatles stage show in the early 60’s and a favourite of John’s. A couple of versions live at the Star Club exist on bootleg and if it wasnt for the sucky quality would surely have been on Live At The BBC .
Dream Baby (Teenager’s Turn – Here We Go – 8/3/62). The first song performed by the Beatles, with Pete Best on drums, for the BBC live in March 1963.
A Picture of You (Here We Go – 15/6/62). One of the few, if not only, George songs recorded at the BBC (9 days after their audition with George Martin at EMI and Pete still on the drums) not on Live At The BBC (probably down to the sound quality – or not wanting to pay Pete royalties).

There are so many great tracks that didn’t make it onto the “Live At The BBC ” double cd. One of my favorite bootlegs is “The Complete BBC Sessions”
They could and should make another 2 cd set! My list of absolute favorites missing from the released set are:
1 – Dream Baby (great cover and along with Memphis Tennessee and Please Mr Postman were recorded in March 1962 when Pete Best was still the drummer after the Decca audition but before the EMI audition
2 – Beautiful Dreamer – Jan 26, 1963
3 – I’m Talking About You – Mar 16, 1963. Love this song They also do a great version on the Star Club cd
4 – Ask Me Why – Sept 24, 1963. One of my favs
5 – I’ll Get You – Sept 10, 1963
and many, many more

Wonderful! The Beatles are having a hard time covering their own songs lol. And I love Paul’s bass lines Here, There And Everywhere .

Are you talking about what’s here, or what’s on the YouTube channel I pointed to? I think they do a pretty good job since most BBC recordings are live single takes without overdubs.
