It’s interesting that the Guardian review mentions Beautiful Dreamer as a rare track, as that was on volume one too (and I’ve still no idea why).

Check your tracklisting, Joe! Beautiful Dreamer was not on Volume One. The song from that appearance that made it was Keep Your Hands Off My Baby.

Even though I’m probably being stupid since I have all of the sessions on boot, I’m gonna get these when they come out next week. My local shop is offering a limited edition CD sampler, I’m going to call and reserve one today. Exciting stretch to be a Beatles fan these past 6 months!

We could both go and sit in the dunce’s corner over this. I am actually excited about these two volumes and hope to pick them up soon after release. A sucker for the Beatles + a sucker for the BBC recordings = a piggy bank for Apple.

I wonder if the original Live At The BBC will be worth keeping, or whether the remaster should replace it? I assume it will be worth keeping as there will be noticeable differences in the sound.
When I got the 2009 remasters of the Beatles catalogue I did get rid of the 1987 CD’s. Did anyone keep these 1987 discs? They sounded very muddled to me.

For the completists you need to keep Live At The BBC ’94 for “Have A Banana” which for some reason has been switched for a new Ringo piece of dialogue from 1964 “Ringo?, Yup!”. It is the right intro for the performance of I Wanna Be Your Man but the wrong outro for A Hard Days Night. I’d suggest keeping the booklet and cd inserts and throwing the rest out, which i did with the ’87 cd’s.

I’m one of those who doesn’t get rid of anything!
The original CDs are packed away in one of my CD boxes somewhere, as are the 2009 remasters, and both versions are stored on my external music hard drive (with 2009 remaster to the applicable, or 2009 mono remaster).
I like the differences, or not losing the differences…!

You’re making me wonder whether I should have kept the old discs now. Are there any that you actually prefer to the remasters, or do you just like being able to compare? I must confess that I do sometimes keep older versions if I like the sound.
On my iPod, I have Dr. Ebbetts vinyl rips in mono and stereo (all the UK albums and some Capitol versions and compilations), as well as the Capitol CD box sets in mono and stereo, in addition to the 2009 remasters in mono and stereo!

I still have all of my 1987 CDs, as well as my original Live At The BBC (bought on release day in 1993!). I never get rid of Beatles stuff 8)

If I had the decision to make again, I would keep them, but (unless someone has a good argument to the contrary) I don’t think my ears are missing anything. I never bought them in the first place–they were a gift from a friend who bought the remasters.
If I remember correctly, I traded those 1987 discs (along with a bunch of other old CD’s) for an Anthology DVD box, the John Lennon Anthology box, John Lennon Live in NYC, Life With The Lions , The Wedding Album , and a book called The Beatles: The Unseen Archives.

Sounds like a great trade.
I only have the original and remastered Cloud Nine to compare, but I gave the old one to my daughter and would do the same with other folks if I had older versions of any others to spread the word.
But then I am not into stuff with minor variations etc. which I appreciate interests a lot of people. Now that I have replaced them all the only part of selling the LPs I regret is the inferior packaging to some of the CDs – but I had 2 of the White Album so have the photos which were my favourites.

Yes, I was quite happy with what I brought home that day.
trcanberra, a friend gave me the remaster of Cloud Nine and it sounds to me like they just boosted the bass and turned up the volume. The original version sounds fine to me.

The Sun today has 3 pages (mostly pictures, it is the Sun newspaper) devoted to On Air and rate it 5 out of 5.
Nice score. I think maybe 4 or four and a half as it is not quite as interesting as the first for me as there are nowhere near as many previously unreleased songs (as opposed to alternate versions of songs).
Being the Sun and all are there any topless Beatles pics?

We have plenty of topless Beatle pics on this site.
You can only get into the full Sun website thru paying for access.
The One Show had an exclusive Words Of Love video (early b&w clips with colour animation over it) – played right at the end and lasted around 30 seconds. Presumably a full video will be made available at some point.

I noticed they moved to a sub – I used to check out their football reports for a laugh (it had nothing to do with Page 3 girls – honest injun).

Its officially here!
What do yall think of it? Personally I think it is great. I think it is arranged much better than the first one and sounds more like a radio broadcast.
I haven’t been able to totally select a favorite yet but it is right now looking like these renditions of Till There Was You and Memphis Tennessee are the front runners.
