They’ll be playing tracks from Vol. 2 on Breakfast with the Beatles, which is on right now until noon PST. This is the streaming link.

Wogbog reports that there will be a boxed volume 1 & 2, possibly similar to the red and blue box that came out with their last remasters (ie the cds in a cardboard box with no frills).

I forgot to x-post here, but there’ll be a Best Buy version with photo cards. Examiner article on that and the above mentioned slipcase set.

Let me get this right. At Amazon UK

On Air Volume 1 is £17.99 (why its £4.99 more than v2 when they are both 2 cd sets is a separate question) .

On Air Volume 2 is £13

So buy them together and its £30.99. Expensive but simple enough.

Oh and there is the boxset of both volumes together, exact same cd’s with no extras but comes in a cardboard sleeve.

How much?

£38.40

That’s £7.41 for the fuckin’ cardboard box!! But its limited edition.

For f**k sake, do Apple just throw random numbers in the air and then laugh at how much the fans are ripped off. I swear they are taking the piss.

Yeah, it is a rip-off. I looked into it last night and found Sainsbury’s to be the cheapest (£30.99). http://www.sainsburysentertain…..=E11297832

Can buy me love! Please consider supporting the Beatles Bible on Amazon

Via WogBlog, The Guardian is giving away 25 pairs of tickets to a panel on the importance of radio in breaking in The Beatles to be held at Abbey Road Studio Two on November 14.

We have 25 pairs of tickets to give away for The Beatles “On Air”: broadcasting, bands and breaking into the mainstream. If you’d like to attend, simply write in to tell us about your first memories of listening to the Beatles. We’ll be awarding the tickets to the most engaging, original and thoughtful responses.

Winners will be announced on or after November 4, so there’s not much time! [x-posted to the news thread]

Jeez I remember just 2 months ago how excited I was when I read the tweet of this from the official Beatles twitter page, and now we’re only 5 days away from release!

And if you saw my love, I'll love her to.

Picked up mine about 30 minutes ago – I will listen to the first disc tonight and the 2nd on Sunday.  It’s kind of odd, we are getting albums here really early these days – we used to be about a week behind – it makes a VERY nice change :)

Gotta say they have done a VERY nice job on the booklet yet again – Kevin Howlett’s intro is great and some very nice photos.

SPOILER ALERT?  Is it a spoiler to say what I thought of the disc? – anyway, just in case – you have been warned :)

[EDIT] I just listened to the first CD and enjoyed it a lot.  Nice performances of Roll Over Beethoven and Twist And Shout .  The two completely new tracks were so-so, but fine for historical interest.  Of the two interviews on the first disc (John and George) I found the latter the most interesting.  Most of the songs on this disc are off Pop Go The Beatles, the 2-3 that are not sound a bit out of place (sound and ambience are notably different).

I have a bit of a busy weekend lined up so disc 2 will get a spin on Sunday.

Very nice pic of John on page 11.

I wonder how long it’ll be before the new tracks are up online? I would buy it and support the artist and that, but the book is arriving next week and I plan on paying my mom back for that. Plus I need to start saving up to buy Christmas pressies. I’m going to need to get another job if I want to be a completist Beatle-head.

I’d take this over a booook (or however they said it in the film) any day – it really does sound fresh and fun, though of course more of the same in a way after the first one.

I appreciate the financial issue, been a while since I had some work – Chrissie on the card this year, and worry about the repayments in the new year :)

You’d take this CD over the super-duper close-to-rip-off mega deluxe ‘Tune In’? Is it really that good, then? Glad you’re enjoying it so much :)

A somewhat cynical early review:

http://www.theguardian.com/mus…..l-2-review

I can’t say I agree with the conclusions though I agree the banter is often great fun.  I also disagree with the ragged comment, some of the songs are, some of them are just powerful.

Its bloody difficult to complain about unreleased originals when none exist, even i have to let Apple off with that. And it was 1963 radio, the Beatles having their own show was bloody huge, it was never going to be insightful serious chat.
