On Air – Live At The BBC Volume 2 debuted at number 12 in the UK album charts (Sunday 17th November), which is seems pretty low but not that surprising. On Air Volume 1 is at #57.
Does this make it lowest placing Beatles album since the compilations in the early 80’s, possibly Reel Music – no 20 Greatest Hits (not including reissues, itunes exclusives and box sets)? Is it the lowest placing official Beatles album featuring ‘new’, previously unreleased material?
edited to add a couple more Apple promo vids
And to make a trio, and in case anyone missed it

Ok I am REALLY confused. I just saw this:
This is NOT on the album I bought off of Amazon. I looked on iTunes and it looks totally different. WTF? This is really bothering me. I really like the album and was so happy to get it, and now I feel really cheated.
I took some screen shots, I hope someone can explain.
This is the version that I have:

WAIT. I’m an idiot. I figured it out.
I bought f*****g Volume one, not two. How did that happen?

Well, not necessarily a bad thing assuming you didn’t already have Volume 1. You’ve got yourself the remastered version, and Volume 1 is the more interesting of the two as it includes the motherlode of songs never recorded at EMI. You just need to get Volume 2 now…
(btw. How do you do that screenshot thingy and put them on the forum? mmm asked how it was done over in “Weird things happening with the forum?” Any chance you could go by and post an explanation?)

No deal. London Drugs had nothing, Target had it but it was sold out. Disappointing as that is… it was nice to see The Beatles sold out, while Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake, Avril Lavigne, and Katy Perry all still had copies. Still killing the competition in 2013!
This is why I usually shop online. Stores just can’t compete these days.
I COULD order it on iTunes, but I want to physically have it. Ordered it on Amazon, be here by Wednesday.

I often have the same problem with London drugs. No can do, dry spell. Hopefully Wednesday. Still, the wait can make it more worthwhile!

It may be at 12 on the UK album charts, but it is # 1 on the UK Record Store chart (not sure what that means):

It is also # 3 in rock on Amazon, and # 4 in music today, but I think it was previously # 3 in music overall.

For the record store chart, see:

And also looks like it will be in the top 10 on the next Billboard charts (around 8-10).

Why did Apple lop off the Don’t Pass Me By dialogue section of ‘A Hard Job Writing Them’ where Ringo first mentions the existence of the song four years before it appears on The White Album ? Its one of the more interesting and revealing pieces of dialogue recording during the BBC sessions. Maybe Ringo wouldn’t give them permission.
Also Honey Don’t appears in a truncated form, i guess the full song doesn’t exist in the vaults in excellent quality (you can hear the missing part on bootlegs, i think taped off the radio).

Got Volume 2 now!
Good to hear. You’ll have to let us know what you think, and whether you’ll still disappointed to have got Volume 1 by mistake to begin with.

I’m very pleased with both albums! I LOVE the longer interviews on Volume 2, but Volume 1 has some really good performances!
I really enjoyed both versions of “I Got a Woman “, which is my favourite Ray Charles song.

Glad to hear that you like it, LHL, because I think I remember you been quite un-keen on listening to their really early stuff. Wish you’d done it sooner?

It’s kind of interesting how few sales it takes to hit the charts these days. How many did 1 sell in its first week just over a decade ago?
