I was looking through the pages of The Beatles Bible when I noticed it said 2 uncredited guitarists for both Across The Universe and The Long And Winding Road . I was wondering who those guitarists would be, I’m guessing one of them would be Eric Clapton, but I have no idea who the second one would be.

The guitarists are unknown because they were among the unidentified musicians that Spector bought in to perform the final overdubs for the Let It Be album on 1 April 1970.
We’re not talking star guitarists here, just a couple of anonymous session orchestra guitarists who were brought in to help him create his “Wall of Sound”.

I assumed it was Eric Clapton, as Eric played lead guitar on While My Guitar Gently Weeps and was close friends with George although it is most likely some random session musician that is probably around my dad’s age and not at all rich, might not even know he played a barely audible guitar in a Beatles song. Phil screwed up Let It Be , as it sounds too live, something I don’t mind for an album such as Never Mind The Bullocks, Here Comes The Sex Pistols or MC5, but The Beatles are supposed to sound professional, not like they record their music in Aunt Mimi’s basement.

Could be someone from the Wrecking Crew, such as Bill Aken, Doug Bartenfeld, Dennis Budimer, James Burton, Glen Campbell, Al Casey, David Cohen, Jerry Cole, Mike Deasy, John Goldthwaite, Rene Hall, Carol Kaye, Barney Kessel, Lou Morrell, Don Peake, Bill Pitman, Ray Pohlman, Mac Rebennack (Dr. John), Howard Roberts, Irv Rubins, Louie Shelton, Billy Strange, Tommy Tedesco, Al Vescovo, Vinnie Bell, P.F. Sloan..so…
Not Glenn Campbell by the way, as he left the Wrecking Crew in 1969.

Why on earth would Eric and Keith play on those two tracks for Spector? Might as lump in Elvis as part of the choir and Bob Dylan playing the triangle if going down idle guesswork.
Eric played on one George song as a favour to George at George’s insistence despite Eric’s initial hesitance.

It’s safe to assume these guitarists are from The Wrecking Crew, so it’s one of these guitarists who were in the group at the time, take your pick:
Bill Aken
Doug Bartenfeld
Dennis Budimer
David Cohen
John Goldthwaite
Lou Morrell
Don Peake
Ray Pohlman
Irv Rubins
Al Vescovo
Vinnie Bell

It is not safe to assume it is someone from the Wrecking Crew.
In fact, it is so much BS to assume that that it’s almost laughable.
Had Spector flown in anybody from across the Pond to work on couple of days of overdubs using session musicians, there would be a paper trail. Flights, hotel bills.
On top of that, had any member of the Wrecking Crew played on a Beatles track, why have they never said so? Hell, Jimmy Page admits to his session work, some of which he’s less proud than other bits, but bills needed playing; Elton admits to being on several of the cheapo Top of the Pops chart cover albums, why would any member of the Wrecking Crew not be jumping up and down shouting about playing on a Beatles record?
Rubbish without evidence to support it.

Maybe it is Eric Clapton after all or maybe it’s Phil himself, as he does know how to play guitar or maybe it’s George or Ringo or maybe there were no guitarists at that session, or maybe it is a member of The Wrecking Crew who is so embarrassed about playing on the overdub that sealed The Beatles legacy into a coffin that they refuse to mention it.

Maybe it was the ghost of Jimi Hendrix trying to communicate with Paul only to get Phil.
Maybe it was the Queen as a thank you for ‘Her Majesty ‘.
Maybe it was Yoko who left John in the bathtub and snuck out to the studios as a surprise to John.
Maybe I learn to time travel in the year 2067, travel back and do it myself.

I confess. I am the mystery guitarist.
I walked in one day and bribed the Beatles so I could play. Gave them enough hush money so none of them would speak a word of the incident.

Great claim Starr Shine? except that there were 2 mystery guitarists, not just 1, so even if you really did play guitar on those 2 songs, there is still at least one more mystery guitarist out there to find.
I admit to being the other one.

SS? and THGF are lying. It was I, AppleScruffJunior, who played on The Long And Winding Road . I am very pleased to finally be able to lift this heavy burden from my shoulders.
And how did I do it you ask? Am I not just some random at-the-end-of-the-teenage-years-girl-with-a-weird-penchant-for-skater-dresses? Well…yes that and I have my trusty DeLorean.

Did you kidnap Ringo and take his place, @AppleScruffJunior? I suppose you probably went back even further and played on the White Album after Ringo stormed out.
