Disagree majorly with Dig A Pony , The Long And Winding Road , and Maggie Mae . DAP and TLAWR both sound very forced to me (particularly TLAWR). TLAWR is one of my least favourite tunes full stop, actually.
Maggie Mae is a bit of fun that is catchy and has amusing John vocals. Too short to be majorly annoying, so why hate it?

@The Hole Got Fixed Maggie Mae isn’t necessarily annoying, because you’re right, it’s too short to be annoying. However, it has no place on the album for me and isn’t something I ever listen to unless I listen to the entire album in one sitting.
When it comes to DAP, there’s something about the song that I’ve always loved. I’m a major rock fan, and maybe it’s the fact that I enjoyed playing it on the Beatles: Rockband…. I really couldn’t say. I can understand why you wouldn’t care for TLAWR, because the orchestration isn’t for everyone, but it’s something that I feel adds an extra touch to the song. It is a bit abundant, but it doesn’t drown out Paul in any way. I hope we can agree more on other albums, but it’s good to hear other opinions, also!

I like Dig A Pony . It’s one of John’s underappreciated songs in my opinion. Why do I like it? Because how it sounds (especially the solo) and how it continues the nonsense language type lyrics ala I Am The Walrus . I think John proved a song doesn’t have to make any real sense for it to be enjoyed. All that matters is ‘all I want is you’.
Maggie Mae is okay, and agree it’s not worthy of strong criticism.
I wish Dig It was extended on the album version, instead of being cut way down. What a fun jam.

‘DAP’ is a great song; nothing to the verses but they sound great, the harmonies are wonderful and love the solo. ‘All I want is you…” is the greatest and most important aspect of the entire song tho and it’s brilliant in its simplicity. Also points forward to the equally wonderful ‘I Want You (She’s So Heavy)’ where John ditched the meaningless nonsense to focus on his infatuation and obsession.
