But the soundtrack would be Apple, not Apple/Disney, and because of the lack of cinema release, the DVD/blu-ray release will be what those who don’t have Disney+ are waiting for, and a soundtrack alongside would make sense. In the same way that the revamped Live at the Hollywood Bowl was released to coincide with the DVD/blu-ray release of Eight Days A Week .

I think there will certainly be a Blu-ray release of the Jackson documentary, though I seriously doubt there will be any additional footage besides what’s in the Disney+ version, though there could be special features of some kind.
And there will certainly, when the Blu-ray release comes, in another year or so, a Let It Be box set, which Apple/Capitol/UMG will be the release/distributors of, and will be up to 6 CDs at maximum. It would likely have the Spector mix, Glyn Johns mix(es), Naked mix, single mixes and outtakes all gathered together in one location.
This is almost certainly what will happen.
Here’s the tracklisting. CD five contains just four songs, which feels like a huge waste, given the sheer number of outtakes and Glyn Johns albums they could have chosen.
The box set seems to have just one rooftop song, Don’t Let Me Down on disc two, which we’ve already heard in Eight Days A Week : The Touring Years. My understanding is that the rooftop concert audio rights are with Disney, but people will just rip it from the Peter Jackson docs, so they’d be mad not to release the audio in some form.
Here’s the 2xCD version:

A reminder that here’s a complete song list for the Get Back /Let It Be sessions: https://www.beatlesbible.com/f…..song-list/
It’ll no doubt need revising when the box set is released, but I think it’s fairly accurate.
I can’t help thinking this box set misses the mark somewhat, particularly the absence of the rooftop concert and the pointless Let It Be EP disc five. They could have put out a golden oldies covers album, or a disc of solo songs (Gimme Some Truth and ATMP are on there, but there’s a bunch of other songs that were on post-Beatles solo albums), or originals like Watching Rainbows, Window Window and Suzy’s Parlour, or early Lennon-McCartney songs like Thinking Of Linking and Too Bad About Sorrows, or an alternative Let It Be . A disc on each of those themes would have worked really well. Any one of those would have been better than the Let It Be EP.
It feels like this is probably the last chance to release a lot of this stuff physically, so I hope one day they’ll put out the decent remaining stuff digitally.

Far from the most exciting of the Deluxe releases so far, especially given the wealth of material they had to play with.
Makes me wonder, @Joe, as I’ve already speculated, if there might not be a soundtrack release for Jackson’s Get Back appearing to coincide with the DVD/blu-ray release when it comes. It would explain the absence of the rooftop concert on this release, and it not looking like much of what Jackson’s used appearing to have made its way onto this set.

Why on earth would anyone release a 4-track CD in this day and age? What an incredibly pointless inclusion but no doubt means they can bump up the cost when it could easily be included on disc 4. There is so much great material that they could include and this feels very much like a matter of having to do something, the ‘Abbey Road ‘ set felt like that as well. The super-deluxe contains 55 unreleased tracks. I think that’s pathetic considering how much material is available.
When going around promoting this, someone should get a backbone and question why it’s so light on material and why on earth we are getting an EP. But no one will, instead it will be patting heads and ensuring there is lots of endless empty praise.

The David Bowie estate did something similar on the A New Career In A New Town box set – the “Heroes” EP. It wasn’t seen as such a big deal, because the main draw of the box set was having the remastered original albums. With Let It Be the main selling point is rarities, and they had *so* many to choose from.
There’s also the issue of wasted resources. We’re all supposed to be eco conscious nowadays, and vinyl pressing plants have huge backlogs which are stopping smaller acts from pressing their records. Why Apple/UMC thought this was a good idea is really beyond me.
I wonder if they’d originally planned to include the full rooftop show, but hit a rights issue and had to cobble something together quickly. It seems crazy that they’d surrender something like that to Disney though. And if there’s going to be a companion audio release for the Peter Jackson doc that’ll confuse the hell out of consumers.

Going to admit, I’m somewhat disappointed by the tracklist, because I would’ve had Disc 5 be more than just an EP. I would’ve included the other Glyn Johns mix in full as well as a remix of the the Naked disc in here. But this set works plenty fine. Maybe there will be a further release down the line to go along with a Blu-ray release of the Peter Jackson doc and a remaster and official release of the original Let It Be film.
