Would be nice. Also, since a CD contains up to 78 minutes of material, in my theoretical 8-disc box set, maybe Disc 1 could have both a remaster of the original Spector mix and Giles and Okell’s modern mix together as one. Of course that might mean having to move the singles (also combining original mix and the modern mix on the same disc) to another disc, but what the hell, right?
Apple have never put additional songs alongside the original album, the only arguable exception is the ’65 stereo mixes of ‘RS’ and Help !’ on the mono albums and they were buried in a box set. They believe the albums should stand alone. The US albums were but that’s entirely different.

Well, it was a thought. So I guess, even in my potential version, we’d only have the Giles and Okell remix. Oh well. I guess we’d stick with just having the Spector mix of The Long And Winding Road by counting it as a “single mix”.

Love the extended Glyn Johns version of Dig It . That should’ve been on the official album, along with Don’t Let Me Down.

I assume the reason that Don’t Let Me Down was left off the album is that it was already included on the Hey Jude LP.
Something else to blame Allen Klein for.

I don’t see that as a negative as far as the “Hey Jude ” LP is concerned; that was a very useful release at the time (and would’ve been even more useful if it’d also included “The Inner Light ” and “I’m Down ” and a couple of others, but never mind.) Beatles could’ve still employed one of the rooftop takes of “Don’t Let Me Down ” for the actual GetBackLetitbe LP if they wished…

John messing up the lyrics would end any possibility of a rooftop performance of ‘DLMD’.

Yeah, I guess some sort of alternate take or remix could still have been included. Get Back , Let It Be and Across The Universe were all altered versions of previously released recordings.

I also doubt it had little to do with Don’t Let Me Down ‘s inclusion on Hey Jude , just because it was specified that HJ couldn’t be issued in the UK (and it wasn’t until 1979, well after the Beatles contract with Parlophone had expired in 1976).
The simplest explanation for its exclusion is that it disappeared from consideration after George, Paul and Ringo recorded a version of I Me Mine to go on the album and the decision was made to pass off February 1968’s Across The Universe as a January 1969 recording. They went onto the tracklisting, DLMD disappeared.

So, apparently CD 4 of the Super Deluxe set isn’t quite what is advertised, except for the Japanese edition.Does anyone have that version?
If so, just asking, but do people share links to cyberlocker sites for downloading MP3 files/albums and whatnot? If that’s not allowed here, I understand.
Wait , the Japanese edition had a different disc 4? Do you have any details?

The contents are the same, @William Shears Campbell, but some of the Glyn Johns mixes are not.A side-by-side comparison was done on The Daily Beatle here, with a further look at what seems to have happened here.
That’s interesting. I’m deciding whether or not this deserves a place in my collection.

On the other hand, the January 1970 Glyn Johns mix includes all three songs.

Yeah. I find it a great coincidence that ‘DLMD’ is on all compilations and then is dropped when ‘Hey Jude ‘ appears on the scene.

It would be nice if songs like Commonwealth, Madman, etc were released on the reissue.
I agree. Honestly, I feel like this release was the most lacking on the bonus material out of all the 50th releases. It felt too much like Fly On The Wall, and less like an audio version of the movie.

That’s a very easy edit to get right, just excise that short piece if needed, although I think it actually adds charm.

Apple and Disney aren’t interest. Jackson fought for the three part series which was much extended over the original film plan whilst nothing has come of Jackson’s desire for an even longer Director’s Cut being released.
