Honestly, from my own opinion, I think I, Me, Mine is one of the best songs for me on Let It Be . I wouldn’t say it’s the best for me, mainly because I haven’t listened to the whole album yet. But, it is one of my favorites that I have heard off the album

idk and two of us
Not for me. I like it but it’s on the “second tier” of songs for me – behind Two of Us, Get Back , Across The Universe and the title track.

I really like I Me Mine , but it’s not one of the best songs on the album. Also, I’m a little bothered by the fact that it was only recorded because there was a scene in the Let It Be film with the Beatles rehearsing it. If, instead, there had been a scene with them rehearsing All Things Must Pass , then they would have recorded that instead of I Me Mine and the Let It Be album would have been better for it.

I believe that I Me Mine is the best George song on the album, but not the best song. I would give that title to The Long And Winding Road or Two of Us.

It’s definitely the best George song on the album (which isn’t very hard when the other one is For You Blue ) but not the best on the album imo. I prefer Let It Be itself, The Long And Winding Road , Across The Universe and Two Of Us all to it.

Agreed it’s the best George song but I really dig Two of Us, and the power of Across The Universe cannot be denied (imo). I have a soft spot for One After 909 as well. No, I Me Mine is imo at best the 4th best on the album.

Its certainly up there along with ‘Two of Us’, ‘I’ve Got A Feeling ‘ and possibly this mix of ‘Let It Be ‘ (and in my opinion the best).
Personally I think ‘I Me Mine ‘ is the most successful of Spector’s remixing and reediting of the ‘Get Back ‘ material. I find there to be a greater amount of anger and rage in the mix that suits George’s feelings, all the others are too placid – play it LOUD. And the artificially extended length stops the song being far too short.

Hmm, it’s a great song yes but I think the best two are “The Long And Winding Road ” and “Get Back “. Glad they did finally use “One After 909 ” on the album though, it’s a good lil’ rocker 🙂

No. It’s good but it’s not as structured and accessible as “The Long And Winding Road ,” “Let It Be ,” and “Across The Universe .” You can’t really beat those guys. I’m mainly here for this very strange video:

Would have been immense if George had stepped forward and belted out ‘I Me Mine ‘ on the rooftop.

I was listening to the Rock Band version, I don’t mind that it’s stripped back from the Spector additions that much. What surprised me is how distorted the bass and vocal tracks are; the vocals possibly just the general quality of the track, but the bass distortion seems deliberate. Pretty sure that’s a Precision bass being played, with quite new strings too.
Now distortion can be used with bass for effects, like the 2nd bass on Think For Yourself , but here it does two jobs: it’s a kind of EQ to cut down the lower midrange frequencies that can make the bass muddy-sounding and it helps the bass to cut through the mix without too much gain or compression. It’s a little trick that if done right, you normally never hear.

Fascinating to listen to the isolated bass. Would have never guessed the song.
(Now there’s a game: play the bass and guess the song.)

It’s a very educational pastime even for a 30+ year veteran like myself. For instance, I had a general idea of the rhythm and probable melody of the bass in the verses but you can’t really hear the actual line outside of the rest unless you already know it! An example of “felt, not heard” bass.

Spector (and Richard Hewson) cleverly hide the edit when the song is about to repeat itself; by having a somewhat frantic strings decrescendo just dart-out-of-nowhere from the right side to mask it. I find it fun to wait for that three second break because it’s quite a jarring thing when you’re not fully paying attention.
I will play the game Existence to the End ;)

Oh also can a mod do correct capitalisation and punctuation on the title, the presentation is making me sad.

I Me Mine is pretty awesome. It achieves that epic wall of sound thing without doing all the overboard overdubs like… other songs on the album.
