I understand that it will probably be at least another 15 years before they do another reissue of the Beatles catalog (which should be the case given the amount of thought and effort that went into the 2009 remasters and how great they sound), but if they were to do another reissue of the Beatles catalog, this is how I think it should be done.
Firstly, my biggest criticism of the 2009 remasters is that the mono albums are not available separately. I think this is mostly because prior to the release of the remasters, most people involved thought that most fans would be happy just to get the stereo remasters and they didn’t want to confuse casual fans with the whole stereo vs mono issue. However, a better solution would have been to just have the mono and stereo remasters on the same disc like they’ve done with the US albums box set.
So if I was to reissue the Beatles catalog, I would release two box sets. The first box set would contain all the original mono and stereo mixes of all the songs, the same ones used for the 2009 remasters, except for Help ! and Rubber Soul it would have the original 1965 stereo mixes instead of the 1987 remixes. And all these will be remastered using analogue technology and digitized at the last stage.
The second box set will contain digitally remixed versions of all the songs. They may choose to remix all the songs from scratch or they may choose to reuse and remaster some existing mixes such as the ones made for the Yellow Submarine Songtrack or the ones made for the Blu-ray reissues of the Beatles films. These remixes will make full use of the latest digital technology while still remaining true to the artistic intentions of the Beatles. In particular, whenever there is a difference between the mono and stereo mixes other than one being mono and one being stereo, they should make it sound more like the mono mix (e.g. She’s Leaving Home should be sped up a semitone like the mono mix) with the possible exception of the White Album (especially Helter Skelter ).
So these box sets will represent opposite extremes of the purist spectrum, with the first box designed for those who want to hear the Beatles as close and possible to how they were meant to sound in the ‘60s and the second box set designed for those wanting to see the latest technology used to its full advantage while still maintaining the overall feel of the original mixes.

We’re close enough to the storage and audio technology that they should just issue the full multitracks and let us mix them ourselves.

None of them will be alive in 15 years, and I bet they will reissue another Stereo LP set from the Analog masters as they just did with the Mono LP’s.
It is true that the 2009 mono CD set was not sold separately by Apple, but Ebay does sell them separately.
As far as them releasing mono/stereo CD set like the US set, it’s a possibility, as I’m sure they talked about it when they released the US set.
And god knows they are hurting for money….

Maybe by the time they get to reissuing the Beatles catalog , they can just stream the whole discography into our skulls.

Its not beyond the realms of possibility @Bongo that both Paul and Ringo would be alive in 2030 as Ringo would be 90 that July whereas Paul would turn 88 in June. People are living longer and they both take very good care of themselves.
The idea of there being no living Beatle is horrid never mind just one. I’m still not totally at ease that two have already left us.

Don’t worry, the corporations that own the copyrights will live on far longer than the paltry humans who created the music in the first place. Culture will be properly regulated then! And a band of pro-Paul guerillas will liberate Carnival Of Light and the masses will rise up and revolt and finally we will have Beatles any damn way we want!

I knew I’d get a response from people on the 15 years….
I too hope they are still alive, as myself!
Now back to the catalogue. I can only imagine what new technology will be around then, and although Annadog40 joked about it being in our skulls, it will be way out there by then. Apple iWatch is coming out and I used to joke about 10 years ago, how you’d be able to use that to control everything including your TV remote, and this is here now, so imagine in 15 years from now.

I used to joke about 10 years ago how nobody wears watches anymore since most people I know just check their phone if they want to know what time it is (although I do carry a pocket watch sometimes). Leave it to apple to make watches a thing again.
Anyway, I’d be happy with something like this… only more futuristic in 15 years. Add some holograms performing on my desktop while I work or something. The brainstreaming would be a nice touch. I hate having to obsessively clean my earbuds all the time.

I think they might even perform for another decade! As long as their hands work I don’t see them stopping that, and they are healthy human beings so should hopefully stick around for a long time!

I would love some good surround remixes, I’m sure it could be managed.
That would be magnificent. Imagine being swaddled in the warmth of Beatles music.

I gave my nephew my original U.K. CD set and he couldn’t believe how many great songs weren’t on the albums (hence the Past Masters ). Imagine if those singles were on each album, how much better those albums would have been.
I guess that’s the way Capitol records looked at it and were able to stretch out more albums by putting those singles on them and offering less songs on each of them.
Apple should just release a super LP box set, and include all the singles. This way you get the whole canon.

Yes, but it doesn’t have the singles, only the Past Masters ! Same thing with the mono box, except it’s a triple Past Masters .

You have no IDEA how many times I’ve wished I had the singles on disc. Some of my favourites… because back then, album tracks were considered more as filler, as opposed to singles, which were all the top picks. It made sense back in the Vinyl Era, but today, a disc with one and 1/2 songs would be a waste.
The Word is… VFM.

Let me rephrase this. I wish they included the 45’s & EPs. You know, how it really came out in the 60’s.
They reissued the LP’s, why not the 45’s in 1 box set. I am aware they did a singles (45s) box set a few decades back, this is what should be include in the super box instead of a Past Masters .
Singles here: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/The-Bea…..27fa240166 or EP’s & 45’s here: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/The-Bea…..259f2e2115
