I find Tell Me What You See to be a frustration song by the lyrics, the shaking tambourine on the title line could be in the manner the wringing of someone’s neck, the way the drums bring it back together when it seems to be over as if they have to keep on going, even the delivery of the vocals have this way of sounding like one side of an argument where you just cant get your point over no matter how many times you have tried and you’re exhausted.
Really great observation, Meanmistermustard. I can totally hear that, and will every time I listen to the song from now on.

I like it even though its not my favorite. To me, I think it along with Beatles For Sale , it was a step back from A Hard Day’s Night because they had covers.

On the bright side, they were only 2 covers. It’s a step forward from Beatles For Sales’s 8/6 song ratio.
And if you saw my love, I'll love her to.

There are only the 2 covers, and I like them both, so I’m happy they are there. I just listened to this album for the first time in many years as I wend my way through the 50 or so bits of metal and plastic I have bought in recent weeks. I really enjoyed the whole thing; I think it is very well constructed considering how quickly it seems to have been thrown together.

I really love Help !, as I love all the albums, but my only complaint is Dizzy Miss Lizzy . I like the song quite a bit, but it doesn’t seem to fit to me. Luckily it’s at the end of the album, so it doesn’t reall ruin the flow.

Agreed with Mr Kite on Dizzy Miss Lizzy , I think Yesterday should’ve closed the album, so what if it’s only 13 songs.

The unnecessary ‘the’ in the title is really annoying me. Nitpicking at its best!
Anyways who doesn’t like Help ! it’s a great album and the first full Beatles album I ever listened to (still rank it in my top 5 today I’d say)

Help ! is probably my 4th favourite Beatles album.
The Night Before would be in my top 10 Beatles songs, Ticket To Ride is phenonomal, the title track deserves its place as one of their most famous songs…and pretty much every other song I really, really enjoy.
I think Yesterday is quite overrated in a way, but I still enjoy it. Dizzy Miss Lizzy isn’t really needed and it’s placement is weird but John’s vocal is AWESOME. Act Naturally should have been a B-side only though, and I’m Down should have been on the album.

I like the American version more. I do like the instrumental numbers.
Regarding the British version side two, I would have put ‘Yesterday ‘ as the last song and moved ‘Dizzy Miss Lizzy ‘ up in the running order.
The further one travels, the less one knows

I’ve always considered this album to be the Beatles Country Album. They were all into folksy songs and country music, and I think it shows here. It’s a great album. I like to divide the Beatles into eras, and pre Rubber Soul , this is my second favorite album behind A Hard Day’s Night . I like doing track by track reviews, so I’ll have to post one somewhere…

I personally like Help , it used to be my favourite album, that was before I started liking their later stuff. I like almost all of the songs on there, I’ve Just Seen A Face , I need you, etc.
But, I strongly dislike Dizzy Miss Lizzy , they shouldn’t have placed it after yesterday, or they shouldn’t have placed it at all.

The first Beatles cassette i ever bought and i loved it and still do, the proper track listing remains weird to me. Maybe this is where my love for ‘I Need You ‘ comes from.

Wonder what the thinking was behind that track listing.

@Into the Sky with Diamonds To get the length of the sides to match as closely as possible. The amount of tapes I remember that’d have ten minutes or so of blank tape at the end of one side or the other. Lots of back catalogue came out with rejigged tracklistings to avoid prolonged blank tape.

Agreed. It’s a filler, a bad one, and in the wrong place.
