I recently saw in the official Beatles store that they released a box set containing four 7″ UK singles remastered with picture sleeves, a poster and a 45 adaptor.
The singles are:
- Ticket To Ride / Yes It Is
- Yellow Submarine / Eleanor Rigby
- Hey Jude / Revolution
- Something / Come Together
What do you think?
Personally I would prefer if Apple released all of their singles in a box set instead of just four of them….
And something else… Do you think they will release a box set soon? (they can do it on 5/8/12, the 50th anniversary of the release of Love Me Do )

Instead of releasing only four singles they could release all the albums in Vinyl (remastered)…
Another idea is to create a new album like LOVE with songs that have not been included in the first (like Getting better)
but that's another topic…

The originals are there, and plenty are for sale. I'm slowly acquiring all I can, but I wouldn't touch a remaster from today with a bargpole (Unless it was a limited edition 4500 copies, in coloured vinyl.)

The singles box is limited to a small number and was released as part of Record Store Day, intended to bring greater awareness of and increased sales in independent stores. A host of other groups and artists have taken part including John Lennon , well Yoko on Johns behalf (and what a surprise it was the Imagine lp). Apple issued some singles last year as well for this.
It would be a good idea to release the remastered lps as there is still a demand for them, new Abbey Road lps continue to sell, but hopefully that wouldnt involve a boxset with an exclusive ep of unreleased outtakes.

Yes, and the EP collection. You can still buy the old singles/EP box sets, but they’re pre-remasters.
Small correction to the OP – these are the US singles. The UK ones normally didn’t have any artwork, with a few exceptions.

How on earth did they decide on those four singles? Throwing darts at a board? It's hard to imagine a more arbitrary quartet. And why'd they decide that 4-no-less-no-more was an appropriate number of singles to put in a box, for that matter?? It's not as though they were duplicating Apple's old introductory “Our First Four” Beatles/Mary Hopkin/Jackie Lomax/Black Dyke Mills Band box – that would at least have a historical rationale for existing. This is a pretty peculiar piece of product, pointless if not entirely useless. Joe's right: C'mon Apple, if you're gonna crank out stuff for collectors to display on their shelves, at least do it right and put ALL the singles in a lavish box, and then sell it for 75 bucks or whatever.
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

I was going to try and defend it but quite simply i cant. Who knows how Apple make decisions. A blindfold was probably involved and being spun on a swivel chair. However with that selection both George and Ringo have a lead vocal so maybe that played a part. And John has more lead vocals than the other 3 so Yoko would be happy. Its hard keeping all 4 Beatle camps happy.
And Apple are not renown for their sensible, fan pleasing releases. Anyone want a £295 White Album pen?

If it's the very pen that Paul used to write the lyrics to “Why Don't We Do It In The Road?”, then the price is about right!
If it inscribed any other set of White Album lyrics, then it's too low.
And if it's just a plain non-historic pen…HAHAHAHA who would pay 300 quid for something like that?!
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.
