This is going to be hard for me because they’re all good, so this felt like picking songs out of a hat, but let’s go: (I will be using the US albums as a convenience for me)

Meet The Beatles:

F: I Want To Hold Your Hand

LF: I Wanna Be Your Man

The Beatles Second Album:

F: Long Tall Sally

LF: You’ve Really Got A Hold On Me

A Hard Day’s Night :

F: Tell Me Why

LF: I’ll Cry Instead

Something New:

F: If I Fell (I didn’t want to use the same song twice)/Matchbox (my favorite song with Ringo singing) (tie)

LF: Komm Gib Nir Diene Hand (who decided that it would be a good idea to put the German songs on an US album, it’s even weirder that they did it on the TV show)

The Beatles Story:

The whole album sucks

Beatles 65′:

F: Baby’s In Black

LF: Honey Don’t

The Early Beatles:

F: Twist And Shout

LF: Chains

Beatles VI:

F: Tell Me What You See

LF: Every Little Thing

Help !:

F: You’re Going To Lose That Girl

LF: I Need You

Rubber Soul :

F: In My Life

LF: Run For Your Life

Yesterday And Today:

F: Nowhere Man

LF: Yesterday (a little soft for my taste)

Revolver :

F: She Said, She Said

LF: Love You To

Sgt. Pepper ‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band:

F: I refuse, this album needs every single one of it’s tracks to be good and there’s only 1 track I don’t really like as much as the rest

LF: She’s Leaving Home

Magical Mystery Tour :

F: I Am The Walrus

LF: Blue Jay Way

The Beatles:

F: As with Sgt. Pepper , I refuse

LF: Good Night (I hate that they ended the album like this)

Yellow Submarine :

F: It’s All Too Much

LF: Yellow Submarine (It’s cheap to reuse old songs like that (at least All You Need Is Love was not previously released on an album in the UK))

Abbey Road :

F: Golden Slumbers Medley

LF: Her Majesty

Hey Jude :

F: Rain

LF: Old Brown Shoe

Let It Be :

F: Let It Be (one of the only songs on this album that doesn’t sound like it was done in John’s garage)

LF: Dig It /Maggie Mae (tie)

The Beatles Christmas Album:

F: Christmas Time (Is Here Again)

LF: 1963 Christmas Message

Anthology:

F: Strawberry Fields Forever (take 7)

LF: The End (who’s bright idea was it to butcher the solo)

Solo Career:

F: How Do You Sleep

LF: Anything by Ringo (not trying to be mean but Ringo should stick to drumming and not sing (if there is an obscure track where he actually does a good job at singing, than I clearly missed it because I don’t listen to any of The Beatles solo careers that often, especially Ringo))

Albums:

F: Sgt. Pepper ‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band

LF: The Beatles Story (this is the only album I’d call bad because there’s barely any music)

With The Beatles
F: It Wont Be Long, All I’ve Got To Do or Not A Second Time (hardest to pick one)
LF: Mr. Postman or Hold Me Tight (one of the worst Macca’s song)

Yip. Its ghastly, i hate hearing it – the only Beatles track I struggle to get thru and want it off as soon as it comes on. I cannot underestimate just how crap I think it is.

Same. As much as I hate to hate any Beatles’ song (I can put up with nearly all of them, even if I don’t like them), I usually end up skipping Hold Me Tight — and this is coming from one of those scrupulous anti-skippers. a-hard-days-night-ringo-13

I like it, I think it’s a good rocker and don’t know why a lot of people hate it (if you’re going to hate a song, go for something like Good Night or Maggie Mae ).

It’s far too sugary for me (John wanted it that way). I wonder if this track had a hand in Ringo doing ‘Sentimental Journey’.

FWIW, I do like Good Night . But then I always had a soft spot for Ringo’s voice. It’s a pity he tended to tense up when he had to record vocals, because he’s not a bad singer at all when he’s relaxed about it. Anyway, I really like how his voice is so much lower than the other three. It makes for a nice change. And the song is just a sweet lullaby, unpretentious, uncomplicated, just the way it should be.

There are far worse songs on the White Album , that’s for sure! *cough*Revolution 9 *cough*

Song

I did this a while ago so I’ll just put what has changed in this post.

Sgt. Pepper ‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band:

Best: I’m Fixing A Hole (I still like A Day In The Life but I’m not as big a fan of merged songs as I used to be)

Worst: Good Morning Good Morning

Let it Be:

Best: I Me Mine

Worst: One After 909 ( I found myself liking Across The Universe more.)

I think that if somebody ever disliked Good Night , then must have regreted his feelings towards it after hearing the solo piano take. The song has a nice bittersweet feeling, similar to Radiohead’s Motion Picture Soundtrack (well, actually the other way around lol).

Revolution 9 obviously doesn’t work as a solo song, but placed into the overall experience of the album i have begun to appreciate it nowadays. Along with Good Night they close the album in a very trippy way (i find very shocking the transition btw the two tracks). As John said: “turn out your mind, relax”…and give it a try a-hard-days-night-ringo-13

Not really a best and worst, but I recently covered The Beatles on my own blog. Every studio album from Please Please Me to Let It Be . I’m no committed fan, and for some of these albums it was the first time I’d listened to them as an entire album. Hopefully forum members will enjoy it.

It’s hard to make a list but for me, the best album of Beatles is “Revolver ”. As the 7th album of the band, it was produced by George Martin and release on August 5, 1966. At the same year Bob Dylan also release his 7th album titled Blonde is Blonde on May 16, 1966. You can’t deny that both albums tops the market during their reign.

This is more of “which songs would I replay all day and which would I skip maybe once or twice” but:

Please Please Me :

F: Anna (Go To Him). (Absolutely love John’s ‘real’ vocals, it has feeling and empathy.) LF: Please Please Me (Tough decision, they all were nice in my book.)

With The Beatles :

F: Till There Was You (Sweet melody and great macca vocals and the guitar bit at 1:10 is simple, yet intoxicating.) LF: Money (Just seems dull and shallow in retrospect.)

A Hard Day’s Night :

F: If I Fell or Happy Just To Dance With You (IIF is just so beautiful and HJTDWY has always been a personal favorite, George’s chugging guitar, nice vocals, and his dance!) LF: Anytime At All

Beatles For Sale :

F: Baby’s In Black (Man, this is a great song through and through, dark for the Beatles at the time so it stands out to me.) LF: Mr. Moonlight (The intro is the only part I truly enjoy, honestly haha.

Help !:

F: Ticket To Ride , LF: You Like Me Too Much

Rubber Soul :

F: Girl (Arguably my favorite Beatles song, definitely top 3. Just hits me on a personal level more so than other songs.) LF: Run For Your Life (Just a hit and miss for me.)

Revolver :
F: She Said She Said (Who would’ve known a song inspired by an acid trip would be good to listen to during an acid trip? paul-mccartney-thumb_gif) LF: Doctor Robert
Sgt. Pepper ‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band:

F: A Day In The Life (A true masterpiece.) LF: Good Morning Good Morning

Magical Mystery Tour

F: Strawberry Fields Forever (Also in my top 3 Beatles songs ever.) LF: Magical Mystery Tour (I love this album as a whole but, this one’s the weak link.)

The White Album :

F: Happiness Is A Warm Gun (One of the best songs ever honestly.) LF: Revolution 9 (I respect it as a project and for it’s uniqueness, not for it being a ‘song’.)

Yellow Submarine

F: Only A Northern Song (love trippy beatles songs) LF: It’s All Too Much

Abbey Road

F: The medley, but besides it.. Here Comes The Sun or Sun King , LF: Oh! Darling

Let It Be :

F: I’ve Got A Feeling and For You Blue , LF: Maggie Mae

Past Masters Vol. 1:

F: This Boy , LF: Matchbox

Past Masters Vol. 2:

F: Don’t Let Me Down (Learning this as my first full song on guitar.) LF: Ballad of John and Yoko

Please Please Me

Best: Please Please Me

This might be the very best early Beatles song. i do love Twist & Shout almost equally, but i do enjoy the live version of Twist more so i picked Please Please Me .

Worst: Anna

Never really cared for this song. It’s not that i hate it. I just don’t like it.

With the Beatles

Best: All My Loving

Haven’t listened a lot to this album. But this song is great.

Worst: Roll Over Beethoven

It’s a boring cover. Why not listen to the original? It’s way better.

A Hard Day’s Night

Best: I’ll Be Back

I really love this song. Easily the best from the album.

Worst: Tell Me Why

I don’t enjoy this song and TBH i dislike Can’t Buy Me Love as well. But Can’t Buy Me Love is a classic, this one isn’t.

Beatles For Sale

Best: No Reply

Great song. It has grown on me recently. I enjoy it more now than before.

Worst: Mr Moonlight

It’s just a bad written song. Why did they even bother covering it?

Help !

Best: You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away

It sounds like a Dylan song but with John Lennons voice. I do enjoy John Lennons voice way more than Dylan. Amazing song!

Worst: Dizzy Miss Lizzy

It’s a cover. The only covers Beatles did was on their debut album. Boys & Twist & Shout. Chains were okay. The rest: Meh.

Rubber Soul

Best: You Won’t See Me

A great song simply. In My Life is also amazing but everyone else is probably picking it. This one doesn’t get much love. Except from me of course.

Worst: Run For Your Life

Not bad but a bit dull. Not very good lyrics. Overall it seems like it’s a filler.

Revolver

Best: I’m Only Sleeping

Amazing song. I remember first time listening to it i thought it was boring. I didn’t know that the chorus would appear two verses in. Really improved the song and now it’s in my top 20 best Beatles songs.

Worst: Good Day Sunshine

Not a bad song. Revolver doesn’t know bad songs. But it was between this one and Doctor Robert . I choosed Doctor Robert as the superior song. This is just too jolly.

Sgt. Pepper ‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band

Best: A Day In The Life

Might be the very best Beatles song. I’m a huge Queen fan and Bohemian Rhapsody is my all time favourite song. I think this is Beatles Bohemian Rhapsody.

Worst: Good Morning Good Morning

Reminds me a bit about Good Day Sunshine . They’re both equally not awesome tho. I enjoy When I’m Sixty-Four more mainly because i take it as a joke.

Magical Mystery Tour

Best: I Am The Walrus or Strawberry Fields Forever

Sometimes it comes to a moment when you can’t decide between two awesome songs. This is that moment. Both songs are written by John and both of them are top 10 Beatles songs.

Worst: Your Mother Should Know

Side 1 wasn’t good except for Fool On the Hill and I Am The Walrus . This song isn’t anything special. Not bad. Not great. It’s okay.

The Beatles “The White Album ” Disc 1

Best: While My Guitar Gently Weeps

Although i like to call I’m So Tired my fav White Album song i just can’t give the top spot to anything else than this one. It was George time to shine. And he shined brighter than Paul and John.

Worst: Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da

Probably the worst Beatles song. Terrible lyrics and the vocals aren’t great either.

The Beatles “The White Album ” Disc 2

Best: Long, Long, Long

Such a haunting tune. It’s incredible and moving. I love it!

Worst: Good Night

Boring. White Album ends at Revolution 9 for me. (Which is scary but interesting!)

Yellow Submarine

Best: Only A Northern Song

Psychadelic Rock is often good. This should be a staple for the genre. Interesting and good.

Worst: Side 2

Instrumentals by George Martin? No thank you. (Mainly because it’s instrumentals)

Abbey Road

Best: I Want You (She’s So Heavy)

A masterpiece. Say what you want about it. End Of story.

Worst: Sun King

Doesn’t like the jibberish they “sing”.

Let It Be

Best: Two Of Us
