@Bongo
I like the George Martin side of Yellow Submarine , finding it to be a very relaxing listen. I don’t play it often but when i do its enjoyable. What bothers me about the album is the tracks the Beatles gave with only Hey Bulldog being of any real quality, the rest being average filler – which the Beatles knew as they tossed them away from the Pepper or MMT albums. None of those three would improve the Magical Mystery Tour EP/LP, which is quite something when you realise Blue Jay Way is there.
To save us all from encountering a serious de-rail there are a couple of threads that discuss Yellow Submarine and George Martin’s scores:

Interesting Poll meanmistermustard. I would have assumed most people don’t care for Side B.
To me it’s the same as the US albums of A Hard Day’s Night & Help (instrumental movie songs). I gladly remove those songs on my iPhone so that none of those songs pop up. To me, it’s just not The Beatles and don’t belong.

I guess, I gotta ask. Is “A Collection Of Beatles Oldies” considered a Beatles LP????
There is after all, 1 new release on it – Bad Boy , not to mention other songs that weren’t on any LP, like “She Loves You ” & “I Want To Hold Your Hand “, and many others.

A Collection of Oldies is definitely a Beatles LP but not one of the core albums (UK PPM -> LIB + MMT + PM); its to be filed away with all the other compilations that have come out over the years, 20 Greatest Hits, Beatles Box, Rarities etc.
Ya, that’s the way I see it too, but I think of it a little differently from the rest since it was actually released during the core LP’s and actually had the new song: Bad Boy , that wasn’t even available in the UK until it’s release. Not even as a single!!! Bet you all Beatles fans bought it when it came on!
All those others came after the end of the band, Including the ’73 releases of the Red & Blue LP’s!

Bad Boy was always a filler track thrown out by the Beatles following a request from Capitol, its fun but little more than that and there are also the two German tracks that didn’t see a UK release until the UK Rarities LP. Throw in Across The Universe wildlife mix and we could have had another EP.
On a dull note i grew up with A Collection of Oldies as my parents had the LP, Past Masters was years away for me.

I guess Oldies would be ok if you didn’t have all the early singles that didn’t make it to LP. like She Loves You & I Want To Hold Your Hand and others….

I still think it’s still pretty much the best of their three Larry Williams covers, myself. *shrugs*
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

My Favorite Album in the Core Catalog: Sgt. Pepper . Such a Masterpiece, I love every song on it (Even Within You Without You and When I’m 64)
My Favorite U.S. Album: Beatles’ 65. Love it. Can’t Get Enough of it. It has all the early rockers on it and my Favorite early Beatles Song: She’s A Woman
My Favorite Compilation: Rock N Roll Music. It has some of the Beatles Best highlights in my opinion
My Favorite Bootleg: Kum Back. Its Just intresting to see what Let It Be or Get Back Could have become
Least Favorite Album in The Core Catalog: Probably Yellow Submarine . Their is just not enough Beatles Material on it.
Least Favorite US Album: The Beatles Story: Gets a Little Boring. But it was the best you had in 64 since alot of this information hadn’t been out yet.
Least Favorite Compilation: None
Least Favorite Bootleg: Anything that has Fake Beatles Songs (Peace of Mind, L.S. Bumblebee, Etc)
I Think that Rolling Stone should do a cover story of The Rolling Stones covering "Like a Rolling Stone" or if a Type of Beetle was named after The Beatles.

Best : I can’t choose every album is Great but White Album and Rubber Soul for musical diversity.
Underrated: Revolver , psychedelic music starts here and also reverse recording and new techniques were introduced and invented. His album really deserves more recognition than its getting. Album sales were also killed by John’s religious statement.
Under-appreciated: Beatles For Sale , I don’t think they were super tired but album had a soft sound as compared to AHDN . John also started writing more mature songs, it’s John’s pre Rubber Soul
Worst: Let It Be , not the worst thing beatles did but it has got many fillers so it ruins best songs like Across The Universe , Let It Be , For You Blue , One After 909 and a few more

Seems as though you like The Beatles, if not love them. Nothing odd about that in this neighborhood of the internet. Welcome to the Beatles Bible, @Goodfinger.

Revolver is the best Beatles album, but Abbey Road is close second. The worst Beatles album is Rubber Soul .

I find that personally offensive, outside of YS the worst Beatles album is Beatles For Sale but it’s still a good album.
