Just curious to see where you all rank Beatles albums among all the stuff you listen to. Here’s my top twenty or so:
1. Sgt. Pepper
2. Abbey Road
3. White Album
4. Who’s Next…the Who
5. Every Picture Tells a Story…Rod Stewart
6. London Calling…the Clash
7. Moondance…Van Morrison
8. Tommy…the Who
9. Rubber Soul
10. Revolver
11. Sticky Fingers…the Rolling Stones
12. The Pretenders…the Pretenders
13. Blood on the Tracks…Bob Dylan
14. Armed Forces…Elvis Costello & the Attractions
16. The Wall…Pink Floyd
17. Les Miserables…Original London Cast Recording
18. Electric Ladyland…the Jimi Hendrix Experience
19. Help !
20. Hot Rocks…the Rolling Stones (this is cheating a bit…Hot Rocks is a greatest hits collection…but it’s so damned good!)
I guess it’s a bit telling that my list is dominated by British artists. I think that’s because the American record industry is so friggin’ conservative and only wants to put out what is safe.
If I cheated some more with “greatest hits” collections like I did with #20, Bob Dylan’s Greatest Hits would probably slide into the top ten. Love that guy.
I could also list another 10 albums easily that could make my top 20 tomorrow if I sat down and compiled this list tomorrow. And certainly more Beatles albums would make that list.

Hmm, I don’t really follow your reasoning, but whatever! Here’s my personal Top 13 (or thereabouts)
1. MX-80 Sound – Hard Attack
2. Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band – Trout Mask Replica
3. The Velvet Underground & Nico
4. John Coltrane – Interstellar Space
5. The Jimi Hendrix Experience – Are You Experienced? (USA & UK versions combined)
6. Led Zeppelin III
7. Sir Lord Baltimore – Kingdom Come
8. The Beatles – Revolver
9. Led Zeppelin (untitled)
10. Hampton Grease Band – Music To Eat
11. Bob Dylan – Highway 61 Revisited
12. Motorhead – Ace of Spades
13. The Beatles – Sgt Pepper ‘s..
That’s how I rank ’em right now. Of course, much of this list (like Her Majesty ) changes from day to day…
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Man.. I can’t truly answer to this… because there are not many “complete” albums I like. That might be because when I was a teen there was no enough money at home to buy albums. I got them when it was Christmas or my birthday and it was hard, very hard to choose, besides I didn’t have a room of my own to listen to the music. All that changed with walkmans.
I don’t have a list of favorites but I can say the albums I listen to a lot :U2 : The Joshua Tree (a birthday present, I still have the LP), Achtung Baby, All that you can’t leave behind, How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. Tears for Fears : The Hurting, Songs from the Big Chair and Sowing the Seeds of Love, Police : Synchronicity, Julian Lennon : Help Yourself and Photograph Smile.. and a fantastic Mexican rock band named Caifanes, El Silencio and El Nervio del Volcan. well to be honest, no there’s no other record I remember I enjoy listening to all. Maybe Queen Greatest Hits. But I can’t rank the Beatles albums among these ones. I do have a lot of CDs from many many singers.. but to say a top ten
it’s really hard for me.
But if we talk about soundtracks….. I do have a top ten list.

Interesting picks! There are some albums and artists on here that came close to making my list and some others that I’m completely unfamiliar with. This gives some things I need to investigate.
Here are a few more that could make my list on any given day:
Let it Bleed…the Rolling Stones
Exile on Main Street…the Rolling Stones
Rumors…Fleetwood Mac
My Aim is True…Elvis Costello & the Attractions
Willie and the Poor Boys …Creedence Clearwater Revival
Blonde on Blonde…Bob Dylan
Quadrophenia…the Who
Please Please Me …Beatles
Let it Be…Beatles
Give ’em Enough Rope…the Clash
Uprising…Bob Marley and the Wailers
Damn the Torpedoes…Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Greatest Hits…Janis Joplin
Two records that both used to be in my top ten but have completely fallen off my screen are by Bruce Sprinsteen and the E-Street Band: Born to Run and Darkness on the Edge of Town. I absolutely loved these records for a while, but I have no desire to hear them again. Not the same test-of-time appeal as the records I love and still listen to.

OK I guess I can post my list of favorite soundtracks. I love them a lot. Actually most of my CDs are music from movies.
1. Miklos Rozsa’s Ben-Hur
2. Zbigniew Presnier’s Three Colors Red.
3. Tom Tykwer, Reinhold Heil and Johnny Klimek’s Run Lola Run, the Princess and the Warrior and Perfume : Story of a Murderer. I’m a huge fan of these 3 guys…
4. Ennio Morricone’s The Mission
5. Ennio Morricone’s The Good the Bad and The Ugly.
6. Clint Mansell’s The Fountain.
7. Brian Tyler’s Children of Dune.
8. Davis, Gordon and Tognetti’s Master and Commander
9. Joe Hisaishi Spirited Away (one of my all time favorite movies)
10. Vangelis Blade Runner.
Mhh I’m sure I’m leaving out many more. I don’t know much about classical but I enjoy Tchaikovsky and Mozart a lot, and some baroque. One of my favorites is the Concert of Brandenburg. I also enjoy opera, but again, I don’t listen to complete albums. Yeah, I know my knowldedge about rock is really terrible. I blame it to the Beatles: Had they done only one album, I would have had time in my teens years to explore more options….

Umm, excuse me? WHERE IS THE SOUNDTRACK TO “A KNIGHTS TALE” AND STAR WARS???!?!?!?!?!?!
MrBig daz angry LOL!!
Star Wars… it’s a classic. I remember dropping my jaw when Darth Vader told the truth to Luke. They were my favorite movies. But thanks to Episodes 1 to 3 I felt so angry that it’s been a while that I have checked them again (including the music). I was soo angry that I yelled 3 times at the screen during Episode 2, and I walked out before the ending of Episode 3. That angry I was. So I love SW soundtrack, but I don’t listen to it that much. Maybe it’s time to check it again.
And a Knight’s Tale.. cute soundtrack. Never got it.

Now I think about it….. I guess that I don’t like that much other albums or other singers because for me, it’s hard to be better than The Beatles. That’s why it’s hard for me to choose another album. And that’s why I love soundtracks. Instrumental music, very few artists. The only ones I can think of are Santo and Johnny (who did an awesome Beatles album) and Ottmar Liebert.
So for me it’s like The Beatles and … the rest. The second close can be U2, but I know this is blasfemy for some (I’m looking at you Mr.Big )
Just teasing…

This isn’t related, but the best album of all time for me is Valleys of Neptune. It’s just…. godly. I really don’t know how to describe it. It’s the same formula, just, more of it.
That’s Jimmi Hendrix right?? I’ll check it out.
Yeah yeah I know…. blame my sisters. After The Beatles the only thing we listened at home was disco.
