Yep, Revolver is, by far, the best cover they had!

I just hope that I would have some means of playing it. Ha ha!

@Emmett Agreed. Klaus Voormann did a fantastic job with the album cover. It really encapsulates the psychedelic nature of the album, as well as the overall chaotic nature of the album in general.

I love the Beatles For Sale cover. But, in Australia, we got this instead…. horrible, horrible, horrible.

Ah yes, our beautiful cover.Aren’t we lucky to live in such a great country that butchers great album covers… I get unnecessarily worked up about this particular example. How totally drab… who’d buy it??
Ooo I need to get me one of those. So me. I’d buy it. For collection purposes.

On its own terms, (like, forgetting the existence of the unforgettably autumnal original), I think that would make a fantastic magazine ad for the album.
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

I don’t recognise that cover, it doesn’t exist to me. Australia, hang your heads in shame! (I say this as an Australian)

As I am overhauling my entire Beatles music library I went looking for HQ scans of the album covers and found this stunning thread on the Steve Hoffman forum, the quality of the covers is incredible.
Also contained is a high-resolution of the uncropped image used for ‘Rubber Soul ‘ which I think is the coolest album cover in the history of music, certainly as pictures of the band or artist goes. It still kills me how unbelievably incredible they look and I think I need to somehow get a print of it on my wall.
‘Rubber Soul ‘ and ‘BFS’ are my two favourite album covers of all time. In ‘BFS’ they look amazing yet you can see very clearly how knackered they are in every respect, by the time of ‘Rubber Soul ‘ the exhaustion and weariness has gone and they are ready for what’s ahead.
It’s a shame that Apple nowadays put little effort in when releasing new albums – the ‘Hollywood Bowl’ cover is hideous.

Great link mmm. I looked through the thread, some of those images have incredible clarity.
I have a poster of the White Album portraits, but this is probably my favorite image of the whole band
It says it was restored by Clayton Hickman, I’d love to get one without the text like that Rubber Soul image. I am always fascinated by how artistic this shot actually is. Really great framing of a very liminal space. In 63 for PPM it doesn’t come across quite as well as in 69, after they had been around the block a few more times and feel more related to the abstract nature of the shot and the space theyre in. It is cool, classy, liminal, and self referential all at the same time.
