Paul George or John?
I haven’t heard many cite John as the best on this album – usually between Paul and Geroge. For me it’s Paul without much hesitation. YNGMYM might be my favorite song on the album. I love Oh! Darling , and to go along with those he did SCITBW-GS-CTW-The End all in a row that put it way over the top for me.
Just wondering because I know George’s two songs are great, and John contributed CT and two of my favorite underrated Beatles songs in I want you, and Polythene Pam .
What do you think?

Not from Abbey Road , though. That’s easily the most famous, only Come Together even comes close to touching it.

I like this question 
Ringo during the chorus of “Carry That Weight ” because it made that dude trip out so hard that he travelled to England to visit Lennon at his house during the making of Imagine
Probably John though, all his songs knock it out of the park in my book (CT, SunKing, Because , Mustard, I Want You)
Though my favorite song is SCTBW
And George makes all of those songs better with his leads, and his two songs are both timeless classics….
Gonna have to stay on the fence, but still leaning towards Ringo..

LOL, like you would pick anyone but George, InnerLight! 
Indeed, you can make a great case for George being the MVP of Abbey Road , based on (a) those two songs (yeah they’re the most popular, but screw that: they’re just plain GREAT!); (b) all the fine lead guitar sprinkled throughout – “Octopus’ Garden” might as well be a Ringo-George collaboration (which it kinda IS, anyways), so integral are those guitar parts to the whole; (c) hey it was George who bought the Moog synthesizer (at a cost of tens-of-thousands-of-pounds!) which added so many nice textures to the album; and (d) turns out it was George who played “Maxwell”‘s wonderfully whimsical bass parts, one of my favourite McCartney bass parts (I USED to think) and one of the main reasons I always defend the song against haters!

I think it’s a tie between George and John, but if I had to choose then I think I’d go with George. It’s such a shame that we don’t see the full extent of his talents until this point, but there it is – George at his best.

Offline For me the Medley makes the album, the Medley is my favourite musical achievement by the Beatles full stop and my favourite parts are YNGMYM, Golden Slumbers , The End , SCITBW and Polythene Pam . So whoever primarily composed the majority of that would be my MVP and based on what you’ve posted above xskelterhelterx, it seems that was Paul.

Offline The thing is, George and Ringo each got only a fraction of the album space Paul and John got. Yes, George’s songs were classics, but imagine if he had six songs. Would they ALL have been as good? Perhaps, because he would have had some leftover songs from previous sessions.
But think of it this way-when you write at least five songs per album, there are bound to be flops. If I could pick only one Beatle’s songs on this album to listen to, I’d pick Paul. He doesn’t have a bad or monotonous song on the album, while John has I Want You, which is incredibly overlong, as well as Sun King and Because , both of which are very slow and not particularly exciting. That’s not to say I dislike these songs, but Paul and George both shone on Abbey Road .

Offline John was creatively pretty barren in 1969…apart from Come Together , Don’t Let Me Down , and Ballad of John and Yoko, most of what little he wrote for the band was weak (Dig A Pony ) or fragments left over from 1968 (his contributions to the medley on Abbey Road ). Because is pretty and I Want You is rocking, but the former is minimalist and the latter is simplistic by John’s standards. He also has a very sparse presence on the album, not even playing on some tracks (or only contributing vocals) and he was barely at the sessions, especially after his car crash in Scotland in early 1969. George contributed two great songs (Something and Sun) and some excellent playing, whereas Paul supplies some great tunes (YNGMYM, Oh Darling), a polarizing “granny” song (Maxwell), and some of the best bits in the medley (Bathroom Window, Slumbers/Weight/The End ). However, he also sings his ass off over the course of the album and plays some of the best bass of his (or anyone’s) career, in addition to once again handling the bulk of the song arrangements, both in constructing the medley and helping George with his songs (surprise, surprise, John continues his pattern since 1966 of “coincidentally” being absent on the sessions when they work on George’s stuff). Ringo’s song (Octopus) is fun if slight, but his drumming, both in performance and sound, is exceptional throughout.
However, if I’m to pick the one who was the best on the album, it would be Paul, with George a close second.

Oh, please – he’s not even wearing shoes.
I would vote for John and his white suit which is now “virtually” mine. It was given to me by our esteemed Administrator a few years back during a virtual Xmas gift exchange.
BOT: My vote for “best” would be George. It could quite possibly be Paul, but I am biased. As usual, though, there are very strong contributions from each of them.
