This is a tough album to rank. I won’t even touch The Medley ; that’s another topic.
- Something — One of the most beautiful Beatles song I’ve heard.
- Come Together — One of the strongest album openers they’ve had.
- Octopus’s Garden — I love this one. Very unique.
- Here Comes The Sun
- I Want You (She’s So Heavy)
- Oh! Darling
- Because — I feel bad ranking this low. It’s really good.
- Maxwell’s Silver Hammer — Should have been cut from the album.

- I Want You (She’s So Heavy) – This used to be my favourite song on Abbey Road . Now I think it’s a little too repetitive. I still love it though.

- Polythene Pam – Works perfectly in the medley. Other than that, it’s not a very special track, I think.

Offline 17. Her Majesty – The obvious choice, mostly becasue it’s a short little ditty but I do like it coming in after The End .
16. Carry That Weight – Another short one, I do like it’s position in the medley though and I like that it goes back to the melody from You Never Give Me Your Money .
15. Maxwell’s Silver Hammer – Paul sure does know how to tell a story in song but this song is more like Rocky Raccoon then Eleanor Rigby .
14. Sun King – One of the most relaxing songs in the medley. It is well placed and is a good segue into the next song.
13. The End – I love the drums, the guitar solos, the piano, the harmony vocals and in my opnion the best way for a band to end their career.
12. Oh! Darling – I can take or leave this song but I do like it when Paul starts screaming.
11. Golden Slumbers – I nice beautiful song from Paul. Hehas always been good at those.
10. Polythene Pam – A fun silly song that luckily doesn’t go to long but it is an enjoyable listen.
9. Mean Mr Mustard – I like the groove of this song and that it is connected to Polythene Pam .
8. Because – The harmony vocals on this song are beyond amazing.
7. Octopus’s Garden – Probably the best song Ringo wrote as a Beatle and probably my highest ranked Ringo song.
6. She Came In Through The Bathroom Window – This is one of the highlights of the medley for me and one of Paul’s best tunes on this album.
5. Come Together – This is a really funky tune. I love the bass line and the lyrics.
4. You Never Give Me Your Money – I love this track. It is a little rock opera and one of my favourite Paul songs.
3. Here Comes The Sun – I don;t think I would be out of line in saying that George did a really good job on Abbey Road and this song is proof of that.
2. I Want You (She’s So Heavy) – This song seems to get mixed reactions. I love that it is repetitive and that there is a long ending and it eventually cuts off. I thought there was an issue with my CD before I found out that it was supposed to end like that. I love Paul’s bass playing on this track as well as the guitar work as well.
1. Something – Probably my favourite Beatle George songs and one of the greatest love songs of all time. I especially love the bass and guitars on this song.
And in the end the lunch you take is equal to the lunch you bake.

I do tend to have quite conventional views on these things. I guess I prefer Something since I’m a guitarist myself and that solo is simply gorgeous. I’m a big George fan, though I’m only just breaking the surface with his solo stuff at the moment.

Offline First of all, that’s exactly why I am going hard on Her Majesty , who makes a song that’s 23 seconds long, Paul could’ve easily extended the song to make it a minute longer, it’s way too short to be a good song.
As for whether or not overplaying songs makes them worse, there are 3 types of overplayed songs:

Interesting, I have an opposite view of Only the Good Die Young. It’s one of my all time favorite non Beatles songs and I’ve probably listened to it more than most songs in existence. It never gets old. To each their own, though.
Back on topic: this is my favorite album. I love every song and the difference between 16 and 1 is very small.
17. Her Majesty – I love it, but I do agree with Dark Overlord that FOR ME, it needs to be longer to be ranked above any of the others on here.

Offline Very difficult album to rank since it’s very consistent and all the songs are great. It’s still only my fifth favourite Beatles album though.
My ranking for today:
17. Her Majesty – I feel guilty for even ranking it since it’s such a short song. It’s a lovely 23 second ditty though.
16. Octopus’s Garden – The best song that Ringo wrote with the Beatles, I think it gets less interesting the more you hear it though. Still great.
15. Maxwell’s Silver Hammer – I didn’t use to like the song but i’ve come to love it now. It ties with When I’m Sixty-Four as Pauls best ‘granny music’ song.
14. Oh! Darling – Probably Paul’s best vocal performance on record. It’s a difficult song to fault to be honest.
13. Mean Mr Mustard – It’s very hard to rank the songs in the medley so one had to come last. I think John’s criticism of the song could have skewed my enjoyment of it.
12. Polythene Pam – This is pretty much tied with MMM. I love the energy and rhythm of the song.
11. Sun King – Love how atmospheric the song is with the crickets and everything. It’s a very unique Beatles track. The gibberish section is awesome.
10. You Never Give Me Your Money – Very cool song with lots of changes. Not sure what else to say about it.
9. She Came In Through The Bathroom Window – The how the song starts and the instrumentation is awesome.
8. Carry That Weight – Great sing along song. The Never Give Me Your Money and guitar solo bit gives me goosebumps.
7. Golden Slumbers – Beautiful track from Paul which provides a welcome break in the medley. The lyrics fit perfectly to the bow out theme of the album.
6. Here Comes The Sun – You can’t criticize the song, it’s up there with George’s best. Would probably come higher if it was less overplayed. We are comparing masterpieces now…
5. The End – Brilliant song to finish the album (discounting Her Majesty ). Everything about it is pure awesomeness.
4. I Want You (She’s So Heavy) – Love this song, it just shifts brilliantly from section to section. I sometimes skip it because of its length though. Otherwise it could have been higher.
3. Something – What more can be said about this song? I think it’s probably a tad overrated when it comes to listing the best Beatles songs though.
2. Because – Must be one of the most underrated Beatles songs. The harmonies are stunning throughout.
1. Come Together – Amazing groove and lyrics from John. For today this is Number 1.

Offline This was REALLY hard to rank. Might be my 2nd favorite Beatle album (after Revolver ). Plus, it’s a bit tough to split up the songs in the medley*.
