Weakest is Oh Darling (prefer the Paul and John duet on Anthology and think that John would have sang it better than Paul).
WAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaa? Oh! Darling on its own is a classic!

I agree completely. I just feel like the vocals aren’t as strong as the other songs they have done
Can’t believe I’m saying this: but I think Oh! Darling is kind of overrated

Same here. I think its one of the weakest songs on the album, it just doesnt do much for me. I prefer the John and Paul vocals on ‘Anthology 3 ‘.

I heard a rumour John was always annoyed that he never got to sing on the final version. I like it anyway, it’s arguably filler, but McCartney-class filler, so it’s still perfect.

I could be wrong, but I believe natureaker was comparing vocals to others the band had done – not comparing them to how we mere mortals could sing them.

You’re terrible about assuming I said things that I didn’t say. I only meant that if you gave it a whack you might appreciate it a little more, because it’s bleeding difficult, it is.
All we are saying is give Oh! Darling a chance.
Sorry if I hurt anyone’s field. I will admit to feeling just the least bit stroppy today.

I agree with @meanmistermustard about Oh! Darling , it’s the least interesting song on the album. Nothing wrong with slow rockers, but it falls flat. To make an unfair comparison, compare it with Let Me Roll It . Not only is Paul not straining for a note there, it has a great guitar hook and backing vocals, elements that offset the pace and provide variety, which proves Paul could improve on earlier efforts. Oh! Darling tries too hard, with too little. More input from John or George might have avoided that. The only song I skip on the album (although I’m not a great fan of Golden Slumbers either but it’s the Medley and it cannot be broken).
I'm like Necko only I'm a bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin and also everyone. Or is everyone me? Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe. This has been true for 2016 & 2017 but I may have to get more specific in the future.

I can see everyone’s perspective. Lyric-wise, it’s not as poetic as the other songs on the album. The guitar riffs and Ringo’s drumming is rad, but it doesn’t set them apart from other musicians in the same era like the other songs. But if you’re not comparing it, this one song alone could’ve been a one-hit wonder if a random artist made it. On its own, it’s genius–but for them, it’s more like their older music.
The song definitely sets Paul apart with his vocals. (On range alone, it’s one of the best.) The guy is a tenor, but he’s not a Steve Perry kind of tenor. It’s incredible how he can zip from his chest to head voice, and then by the end of the song it’s a gravelly, rocky, hot mess. As a singer, I know how hard that is to come by. It’s amazing that he can write such awesome songs, lyrically and melodically, and then has such a great voice.
I guess we can all establish that we can get something different out of each Beatles’ song, which makes them so wonderful.

Pauls vocals for Oh! Darling seem to kind of cancel out the rather mediocre lyrics of this song to still make it a good Beatles tune.
