Happy birthday Abbey Road my beloved… sounding good for 52!
Amazingly well. As Jules said before, the greatest band had a perfect finish, right down to the cover photo.

I got a copy of this record a couple of weeks ago, and was unable to listen to it until Friday as I do not own a record player(I used my friend’s), and oh my goodness. I had obviously heard all of the songs on the album beforehand, but the action of placing the record onto the player, placing the stylus on top of it, and watching it spin as the intro of Come Together played was simply magical. The way the music felt was completely different. Almost as if the Beatles themselves were in the room with me, and I was able to pick up on things I hadn’t before. Having a physical copy of the music feels so much more personal and like more of an experience than listening to it on Spotify or iTunes.

Hey I love Abbey Road ! It’s memorized in my mind.
Can you believe The Rolling Stones covered Come Together ? ()
My favorite track is probably Something . I studied the chord arrangement in high school for a report. Still, it is a very good song to calm down in the middle of the night. Then I love Oh! Darling , which I didn’t originally like, but then one day I appreciated the screaming.
My point: Hackney Diamonds (2023) will one day be held to the same standard as Abbey Road . Both are incredible albums and great ends of legendary band’s careers.

While Rubber Soul , A Hard Day’s Night , and Revolver move up and down among my 2nd favorite Beatles albums, Abbey Road steadfastly remains my favorite. The individual tracks are all great (even Maxwell’s Silver Hammer and Octopus’s Garden !), and The Medley is simply magical! All four Beatles get a songwriting credit and vocal, and it has George’s best Beatles output (IMO). Everything about it – the album cover, the song order, Ringo’s drum solo, Paul, George and John’s traded guitar solos, the whimsical P.S. at the end (Majesty) – just makes me happy.
What a fantastic and bittersweet achievement!

Probably a stupid question but WHAT IF Let It Be was on Abbey Road ? The masterpiece could have been included between I Want You and Here Comes The Sun , I think.
I mean, I know that the album Abbey Road is a completely different sound than Let it Be, and it probably can’t fit in.

Don’t forget that it was originally a two-sided LP. I don’t think it would work either blunting the abrupt conclusion of I Want You or preempting Here Comes The Sun as a side opener. Maybe it could fit somewhere else but then you already have the hymn-like Golden Slumbers so LIB would probably be redundant anyway.
