Ok, I was uploading the Beatle catlouge to my Beatles-mp3 player. And I didn't want to have a Yellow Sub-EP, so I put Abbey Road and The Yellow Sub-EP together. And this is the tracklisting:

Offline Conceptually, I’m confused you would put Yellow Submarine on Abbey Road . If it works in any place, it works on Magical Mystery Tour (Or Alternate History Tour, if you prefer). It makes no sense to put it on Abbey Road . And something with 3 sides is not a double album. For the fourth side, I’d put a Magical Mystery Tour -esque array of recent singles, Get Back , Don’t Let Me Down , The Ballad of J&Y, Old Brown Shoe , and Across The Universe .
(Wow, that’s a lot more then I wanted to write. And I just woke up to nothing I want to post to but this. Depressing.)

It's all personal taste of course, but I always thought “It's All Too Much” was a very weak song.
It fits with the commonly heard theory that the Beatles had no interest in a cartoon and just gave away 4 rejects just before leaving for India. (That theory is contradicted however by “Hey Bulldog ,” one of my faves).
By the time that song came around at the end of Yellow Submarine , I remember thinking, “yeah, it IS all too much.”
Harrison never played this song or “…Northern Song,” so perhaps they weren't his favorites either.

Its no secret that they had very little interest in the film throughout its development and therefore gave away songs that werent quite up to scratch, Hey Bulldog being the exception. Its All Too Much has a great opening but the more you hear it the more ordinary it gets (tho i do love the opening).
As for the alternate Yellow Submarine i would change the course of history. The 5 track EP is released in the UK leaving the US with the question of what to do with the songs. Therefore i could round up the singles from 68 (Get Back /Don't Let Me Down hasnt been recorded at this point) and add them to the pot. The single would be Hey Bulldog b/w Its All Too Much (2:30 soundtrack version that has the extra verse).
But with it being the US and their love of Martin soundtrack inclusions it wouldnt surprise me if Capitol release the album as it is now but with the addition of Across The Universe .

My only suggestion would be combining Yellow Submarine , Across The Universe and The Inner Light with the Magical Mystery Tour double EP and Baby You're A Rich Man. I'd cut Flying , making a 12-song LP featuring great songs like Across The Universe , The Fool On The Hill and I Am The Walrus . I won't be doing it, because I've already merged Sgt. Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour in my head.
Sudden idea- how about keeping Flying and adding Carnival Of Light ?

Hey Jude b/w Revolution was released August 1968, Yellow Submarine album was January 1969. The running time for the lp would be 35 minutes. In comparison MMT is just under 37 minutes and Hey Jude is 33 minutes.
Running order. Side A: Hey Bulldog , Only A Northern Song , Across The Universe , All Together Now , Its All Too Much (6 min edit). Time: 18.9 minutes
Side B: Hey Jude , Lady Madonna , The Inner Light , Revolution . Time: 15.4 minutes.
Single: Hey Bulldog b/w Its All Too Much (2 1/2 min film edit making the fans buy both and capitol money).
And there should still be enough non capitol album material for Mr Klein to release an album in 1970 and make even more money (I'm Down, Theres A Place, From Me To You , Misery , I Should Have Known Better , Ballad Of John and Yoko, Old Brown Shoe , You Know My Name, Rain , Paperback Writer ). I think leaving only Love Me Do (Ringo on drums), Get Back and Let It Be (the Martin single mixes) not on a capitol album.

Online Thanks Mr Sun King . I'll see if i can download it and give it a listen but i have a real backlog of stuff to play.
Going off topic, does anyone remember or know where this is from. Its called The Pepperland Suite and is George Martins music from the soundtrack but with differences, and i dont think its a fakery. I first came across it on a bootleg called The Alternative Magical Submarine Tour And A Little More years ago and actually prefer it to side 2 of the album.

Offline No problem. I think that would be the original score for the film. Side 2 of the film soundtrack was rerecorded (with slight variations) because United Artists said they could not release the original score as in the movie. Actually, as I listen more, I think it's some form of a medley created from all the parts of Side 2.

Online But there are parts, like drums, which are not on the album. So maybe its part film part soundtrack. I havent seen the film for a long time.

Offline I know no one has posted here for 6 years but that is a terrible tracklisting. First of all, there’s nothing on side 4 but most importantly, why would you mix Abbey Road with Yellow Submarine , Yellow Submarine is the perfect gap between the childish psychedelic Magical Mystery Tour and the classic rock back to basics The Beatles, it’d be like as if I took out 4 tracks from Rubber Soul and replaced them with Eight Days A Week , Baby’s In Black , Words Of Live, and Kansas City , I think this thread needs a better album, so here’s my take on this album:
