I don’t feel like ranking this album, but my least favorite track on this album is A Hard Day’s Night , it’s not a bad song, but it’s bland and has nothing special going for it and people often use this song when parodying The Beatles. On the other hand, my favorite track has to be I’ll Be Back , I love the acoustic feel of the song.
If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.

Keep in mind that every song is perfect to me.
13. When I Get Home – Very catchy, love the “woah-woah-aaaah”. The only downfall is the slapped together lyrics. “I’m gonna love her till the cows come home” Uuuuuh….okay.
12. You Can’t Do That – Not much to say about this one, other than it’s a great song.
11. Any Time At All – Again, not much to say.
10. Tell Me Why – Great underrated track.
9. I’ll Cry Instead – I wish this song was longer. Maybe I’ll be able to hear the extended version someday, and my wish will come true.
8. I’m Happy Just To Dance With You – Love George’s vocals and the backing vocals working together.
7. I’ll Be Back – Another underrated song. Great way to close the album.
6. Can’t Buy Me Love – I don’t think of this song as highly as others would, but I still love it. Don’t eat me.
5. I Should Have Known Better – One of my favorite Beatles songs with harmonica, if not my favorite.
4. Things We Said Today – Love the guitar work and lyrics.
3. A Hard Day’s Night – Great way to start the album, with the opening chord. DUNGGGGGG! (That’s me trying to imitate the opening chord through text. Emphasis on trying.)
2. If I Fell – Very effective lyrics, and John is singing so passionately. This song could’ve easily been #1, but…
1. And I Love Her – …you can’t take anything away from this song. From the awesome guitar riff, to Paul’s passionate and effective vocals, this song is easily one of their best early songs.
All you need is hot potatoes...

13. I Should Have Known Better – This one and the next just seem to be more overexposed in proportion to how much I enjoy them. And I get annoyed that the most prominent lyric in the song is actually the title of an earlier (earliest) Beatles hit!
Ok, foolish me…the lyric is actually “you’re gonna say you love me TOO”, not “DO”! That makes it better.

A Hard Day’s Night Beatlemania in two-and-a-half minutes. Catchy and essential, with a stunning vocal performance from both John and Paul 10/10
I Should’ve Known Better It’s two-chord rhythm is similar to Cathy’s Clown, which is another song I’ve always enjoyed. This isn’t as good, but still enjoyable. 8/10
If I Fell Three John compositions in a row indicate how creative he was in the early days. He was always proud of this one, and rightly so. 9/10
I’m Happy Just To Dance With You Brilliant rhythm guitar elevates an otherwise filler that neither John nor Paul were particularly proud of. 7/10
And I Love Her I genuinely think it’s George’s lead guitar that makes this song as good as it is. Without the four-note intro, the apreggios or the effective solo this song would be lacking. 9/10
Tell Me Why The first disappointing song on the album. 6/10
Can’t Buy Me Love Either one of Paul’s three compositions for this album could be considered his best. This isn’t my personal favourite, but it’s still one of the best songs on the album 9/10
Any Time At All The following two songs represent a minor dip in quality. You can almost feel John was writing to a formula. This one was another attempt at It Won’t Be Long. 6/10
I’ll Cry Instead Better than Any Time At All . Still another filler. 7/10
Things We Said Today One of Paul’s best compositions from the Beatlemania era. There’s nothing I don’t like about this song. 10/10
When I Get Home Possibly the worst song on an album full of highlights. 5/10
You Can’t Do That Angry. Great backing vocals. Great energy. 8/10
I’ll Be Back This will always be one of my favourite songs. I adore the descending chord sequence (taken from Del Shannon’s Runaway) and the vulnerability in John’s vocals. 10/10
Average: 8

1. If I Fell : 15/10 To me, this song is more beautiful than Yesterday . And that is really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really saying something. To me, it is the best harmony John and Paul ever did. I cannot accurately express my love for this song in words. It’s just…
2. A Hard Day’s Night : 10/10 I am, of course, in love with the opening chord, but that’s just the start. This song was a huge part of my childhood, and it has always been one of my favorites. I’m not going to single out any musical elements that I like best, because I love all of them.
3. Can’t Buy Me Love : 10/10 One of George’s best guitar solos of all time. I love this song. For more information, see above.
4. I Should Have Known Better : 10/10 One of my favorite basslines when I was a kid, and one of my favorite songs now. Also a great scene in the movie.
5. I’m Happy Just To Dance With You : 10/10 I love the guitar, and I love George’s voice. So much. So so so so so much. My fifth favorite George vocal and, coincidentally, my fifth favorite on AHDN .
6. And I Love Her : 10/10 Quite poetic lyrics, beautiful guitar, amazing vocal– what’s not to love?
7. Tell Me Why : 10/10 Amazing energy, and such a great, strong harmony. I always have fun trying to pick out whose voice is whose.
8. I’ll Be Back : 9/10 Beautiful beautiful song. I love it so much. The harmony is AMAZING.
9. Things We Said Today : 8/10 I love the lyrics, and the song itself is fantastic. Great guitar on this one.
10. Any Time At All : 7/10 A good song. Excellent energy. For some reason I always mix it up with All I’ve Got To Do — it’s kind of like the sequel.
11. You Can’t Do That : 7/10 Great play on words in the lyrics by John, and he plays a fantastic lead guitar part.
12. When I Get Home : 6.75/10 Quite a good song. The lyrics are kind of cheesy at times, and it’s not an especially memorable song, but it’s still great.
13. I’ll Cry Instead : 6/10 The lyrics are amusing, and the song is pretty good, but it’s nothing special.

If I Fell and I’ll be Back.
Love this album from beginning to the end. If I had only one album this would be it.
Edit…I reckon I’ll be Back is where John started putting ‘bits’ together like he does in Happiness is a…..
Whether Ray Davis nicked the idea for Autumn Almanac, or it’s always been a common technique I don’t know.

I can kinda see this…it’s like the song has two different middle eights.
Also, the modulating between major and minor keys during the fade – in fact, the very existence of a fade – does suggest an air of indecision about or around the song’s structure. From that perspective, it’s possible to imagine that John had a few spare melodies that he wanted to use up. But I don’t really know or care…maybe the writing of the song has been documented elsewhere?

13) I’ll Cry Instead – just bad. one of the worst songs of The Beatles. bad lyrics, bad melody, The Beatles weren’t good at country point blank period. 0/10
12) When I Get Home – there are some good seconds in the melody, but mostly just boring. and it contains a bad vocal performance. 2/10
11) I’ll Be Back – I appreciate the fact that it is laid back and focused. still not good. not memorable at all. 4/10
10) You Can’t Do That – I know it’s dissonant, and that is very uncomfortable. but the chorus harmonies of “Gonna let you down and leave you plant!” I believe it’s kind of funny. bridge is trash also. 4/10
9) Any Time At All – feels dumbed down. still some redeemable melodies. but not a highlight to me. 4/10
8) A Hard Day’s Night – overrated as few. I like it in the context of the film. but the melody is not my cup of tea, the bridge is not creative, and the vocal performance is not up to the best Beatles material. the lyrics are creative though. 5/10
7) Can’t Buy Me Love – I think that the chorus is what holds it from being a favourite of mine. the verse is good, especially the line “I don’t care too – much for money! – Money Can’t Buy Me Love “. the delivery of that line is very clever. 6/10
6) Things We Said Today – I think the concept is good. still not as good as the best tracks in here. the melodies are ok, the vocal performances are passable. still a boring bridge and a so-so vocal performances. the minor scale is very fit. 6/10
5) I’m Happy Just To Dance With You – maybe too short. the concept of the lyrics is creative: “I wanna love you but not like in Please Please Me , I just want to see you dance”, something like that. the delivery of “Is everything I need” I love. 6/10
4) I Should Have Known Better – good, and fun. I love the melody, it is very iconic and the harmonic is ok. I love the line “I should’ve realized what a kiss could be”. 6/10
3) If I Fell – I think the first 20 seconds are a mood-killer. but the rest of the song is great, with a great double melody and nice lyrics. pleasant, to say the least. 7/10
2) Tell Me Why – underrated as few. the chorus is great. even though it’s not the most creative lyrics, it’s a fire melody “Tell me whyy-yy-yy-yy you’ve cried!” I love that. it’s catchy, fast, and to me, classic Beatles. 7/10
1) And I Love Her – with a Spanish vibe, McCartney kills it. the love on this track is palpable. the lyrics are incredible, especially “Bright are the stars that shine – dark is the sky – I know this love of mine – will never die”, sounds like true poetry. with an amazing riff and solo by Harrison. real taste and pace, style. amazing. 8/10

I don’t think this is going to be a typical list. Just keep in mind that I’m not trying to offend anyone…
13) When I Get Home – I’ve never really cared for this song. I hate the term “filler,” but there is nothing particularly remarkable about it. And the part about the cows…
12) Any Time At All – See above (minus the cows).
11) You Can’t Do That – Not terrible, but I don’t really care for the lyrics. It’s a bit like a prequel to Run For Your Life (and you know how I feel about Run For Your Life ).
10) And I Love Her – Since I was young, I’ve had a major problem with this song due to the fact that it makes absolutely no sense, and it only continues to annoy me.
9) I’m Happy Just To Dance With You – This song is only this high up because I feel kind of bad for George.
8) I Should Have Known Better – I don’t hate this song, but I don’t love it either. It’s always reminded me of I Saw Her Standing There .
7) A Hard Day’s Night – I like it more than I hate it. But only some of the time.
6) Can’t Buy Me Love – It’s nice. I rather enjoy it sometimes.
5) Tell Me Why – See above.
4) If I Fell – See above. The “love me more than her” part is extremely annoying, but it’s a very nice song with a very nice double melody thing (I don’t know anything about musical terms, so I make up my own!)
3) I’ll Cry Instead – I like this song a lot. It’s rather refreshing to have a description of actual emotion instead of only songs that are all based off the same idea of “love.”
2) I’ll Be Back – I am rather partial to slow songs with lots of harmonies. This is no exception.
1) Things We Said Today – I’ve always loved the harmonies, and the melody works very well with the lyrics. (It’s always funny how I have more to say about the songs I hate than the songs I like).
Isn't he a bit like you and me?
