I just checked my records. Today marks exactly one year of my enjoying A Hard Day’s Night .
Beatleva said all a maze
A Hard Day’s Night was my first album and I couldn’t stop playing it, I loved it. Still do, as a matter of fact, it’s just brilliant. It’s definitely my favourite early Beatles album and in my top three of all-time favourite albums.
There is not a single song on the album that I dislike, there are just a few songs that stand out more than others. I can’t choose a favourite one, but ones that I really like are:
(It’s hard because I almost wanted to put the whole album in my list )
Overall it’s a superb album with great harmonies and catchy songs.
Agreed!

A Hard Day’s Night is the absolute peak of Lennon’s creativity in the early years. The perfect pop album in 1964, with no covers and no filler. Better than both Beatles For Sale (though this one’s underrated) and Help !, in my opinion. It lacks a bit of diversity and so it can be considered a real “piece of art”, but in my opinion it’s the first consistently great album in the Beatles carreer.

I really like A Hard Days Night. Generally with Beatles albums, there may be one or two tracks on a particular album that you’re not keen on,so they will get skipped, but I think with AHDN ,you can listen to the whole album, and not find a bad track on there. Even the lesser known numbers like I’ll Be Back or I’ll Cry Instead are enjoyable to listen to.
It’s just a very good pop album, and an album that I think even non Beatles fans will enjoy and appreciate

In honour of A Hard Day’s Night ‘s releasaversary, I sat down and tried to play through as many of its tracks as I could. I played the first five songs fairly well, had a brief pass at ‘Tell Me Why ‘ in the wrong key and completely failed to play ‘Can’t Buy Me Love ‘, and then I played ‘Things We Said Today ‘ well and scraped through ‘I’ll Be Back ‘.
It was an enjoyable little session. Some of those tunes have some really phenomenal songwriting — simple, but catchy and intriguing, with some deceptively weird chord progressions. Len and Mac knew what they were about

Well, I was referring specifically to the songwriting, which Len and Mac would’ve taken care of, on that album at least…

Yup, but George Martin as producer always had an input. Specially in their early albums. In A Hard Day’s Night , for example, he suggested that Can’t By me love started with the chorus instead of straight with the verse… and i bet he did a lot of suggestions like that in many songs in the album.
