Offline Staying on topic, once again A Hard Day’s Night is one of my favorite albums definitely top 5 There really isn’t a song I don’t care for so here’s a list I made of the songs I like on this album in order:

Still my number one Beatles album, full of killer songs. I think You Can’t Do That might be my favourite on the record, but the ballads are probably better than the rockers. The only weak one is I’ll Cry Instead , but that’s over quickly.

Yeah, I knew the cover was different (I love the US one), and I knew they included the George M tracks, as well. I suppose I never put 2 and 2 together to work out that that must mean that the tracks we have, they can’t have because of lack of room.Thanks for your assistance, yet again, mja!!
Just wondering what you prefer about the US cover? The only one I have seen has just four photos instead of the brilliant filmstrip one on the UK version and seems a lot less imaginative to my untrained eye.
On the OP – great film and album – my favourite from the first 4.

^ I don’t know what it is, really, I just prefre to look at it. The UK cover is quite imaginative, though, as you say, but all those b/w pictures give me a bit of a headache if I stare at it for too long.

I love AHDN . It’s my third favorite album after Abbey Road and Beatles For Sale (well, at least for the moment- my favorites change a lot). However, Things We Said Today is my least favorite on the album. I’m not really sure why, but it kind of annoys me. The harmonies are good, but overall it’s just not a song I like. And my favorite is Any Time At All , especially because I found out that Paul sings the second “Any Time At All ” in each chorus, so whenever I sing along I sing, “Any Time At All , second time it’s Paul…”

Offline I love that the last song on ADHN is the melancholy “I’ll Be Back .” It’s almost like a foreshadowing of their future with the more mature sound and lyrics, and it also works because they would be back again. Almost like Frosty the Snowman.

Offline AHDN album is one of my favorite albums of the Beatles, because this is were they get their first movie soundtrack album. And I also, I think this album started the history of Beatlemania, am I right?

Offline Not sure what you mean there…”Beatlemania” was in motion in both the UK and USA months before the cameras started rolling, or the soundtrack was recorded. The movie kinda chronicled the phenomenon, however.

Beatlemania was “officially” thought to have commenced in the UK in October ’63, although arguably it can said to have started that summer when they began rising up the bill on their tours from support to headliner. I think it was officially coined and announced by the UK papers in October ’63 though. And in the US, once I Want To Hold Your Hand hit #1 in late ’63/early ’64, that was it. As you said, vonbontee, the AHDN film was merely a snapshot of the phenomenon that was already going in full force.
Interesting to know is that they were booked for Ed Sullivan in Feb. ’64 REGARDLESS of if they had a #1 record or not. Epstein had negotiated it in late ’63 with Ed on one of his trips to NYC.

Ed saw the hysteria of UK Beatlemania firsthand at the London airport when the Beatles came back from Sweden. He offered them a one-shot appearance at a high rate, and Epstein went for three shows at a reduced rate instead, figuring the American audience would want to see them again quickly. (And he was right.) It helped that by the time the Beatles landed on Sullivan, they had that #1 record, so it was a huge coup for Ed and his “really big sheeew.”

Offline I was under the impression the term “Beatlemania” was coined in an article about the performance on Sunday Night at the London Palladium. I found this, however, in Wiki (for what it’s worth).
Andi Lothian, a former Scottish music promoter, claims that he coined the term while speaking to a reporter at the Caird Hall Beatles concert that took place as part of The Beatles’ Mini-Tour of Scotland, on 7 October 1963, and an early printed use of the word is in The Daily Mirror 15 October 1963 in a news story about the previous day’s Beatles concert in Cheltenham.

Offline Of the early Beatles albums, this is by far my most favourite. Probably because they were all Lennon/McCartney compositions. Not a clunker in the bunch!

Offline When I first got this album (it will be exactly one year in a few days), I was addicted to it too. I played it every day, till I had the entire thing imprinted into my soul. You could say I wore out the grooves… but it’s a CD. 
And I (still) love it to pieces. There’s just something about it… a flow, I suppose, that lends itself to whole-album a capella renditions in the kitchen. And sometimes, if the stars line up right, I’m taken right back to that lovely time when I first got it and it was like the world had been painted over new.
(Yeah, music has that effect on me..) .

Offline A Hard Day’s Night was my first album and I couldn’t stop playing it, I loved it. Still do, as a matter of fact, it’s just brilliant.
It’s definitely my favourite early Beatles album and in my top three of all-time favourite albums.
There is not a single song on the album that I dislike, there are just a few songs that stand out more than others. I can’t choose a favourite one, but ones that I really like are:
- A Hard Day’s Night
- I Should Have Known Better
- If I Fell
- And I Love Her
- Can’t Buy Me Love
- Things We Said Today
- You can’t do that
(It’s hard because I almost wanted to put the whole album in my list 
)
Overall it’s a superb album with great harmonies and catchy songs.
