This new thread for discussing upcoming CD / Vinyl reissues for the 2020s.

2024 – I personally think Carnival Of Light needs to be the release of the year. Last year on Now And Then they should have made it the b-side and solve the mystery. Paul McCartney needs to come through.

And to those who want a Rubber Soul reissue, it seems redundant.

‘CoL’ is not coming out this year. Best bet is a ‘Rubber Soul ‘ deluxe which could turn into a more general 1965 overview but no one would ever have predicated ‘Now And Then ‘ – not that we’re getting anything close to such a release. I’ll opt for a lovely official tea towel and rubber stamp set as well as we can always be sure Apple will have the merchandise covered.

John’s ‘Mind Games ‘ is being remixed and expanded with outtakes etc, Ringo has a country album planned (not a rip-off EP thankfully), I think we’ll get some George set and Paul will probably have new music out as its been a while as well as some pointless format of ‘Venus And Mars ‘ to mark it’s anniversary. He also may spend 5 minutes of his time pulling out a long forgotten new ‘Archive’ release from the to-do pile and approve it for release.

There is a Beatles Record Day 2024 item to add to the pile; a small record player which can play 3″ vinyl singles – there are 4 of those. Additionally John has a ‘Mind Games‘ EP, George picture discs of ‘Electronic Music and ‘Wonderwall Music ‘ and Ringo an EP titled ‘Crooked Boy‘.

No idea why the EPs cost £27.99. Maybe they are cheaper elsewhere or it’s because it’s all limited edition and exclusive.

Yeah, but I still want a Carnival Of Light release. I mean, come on- They only got into a groove for the 50th’s in 2017.

We got;

Sgt. Pepper 50th (2017)              – White Album 50th (2018)

– Christmas Records (2017)            – Abbey Road 50th (2019

Then in 2020 due to Covid everything was pushed back. They should have stopped there.

Post-Covid;

-Let it Be 50th (BAD; Just alternate takes, no new titles (thinking Watching Rainbows, etc.)         – Revolver Deluxe (2022)

Get Back projects (good; extra film footage)                                                                          – Last Beatles Song (2023)

Point is, there is really no market with the young kids for anything pre-Revolver . At this point, just wrap up the loose ends and solve mysteries. We haven’t seen a release for Carnival, and I sincerely hope for it.

Carnival Of Light 2024 – It’s time for old mysteries to be resolved!

I kind of like the idea there’s a mythical unreleased track hiding. a-hard-days-night-paul-8

There is no market with the young kids for ‘CoL’. It’s a psychedelic track that doesn’t even sound like the Beatles even if it is from the ‘Pepper’ sessions. Maybe we will get it in 2027 to market ‘Pepper’s 60th anniversary. Or we will get a coaster.

Apple should stop trying to cater to the casual fans with these album sets and focus more on those who actually want to hear the outtakes, demos etc.
