And I must say that Penny Lane sounds just great – clear, firm, strong – but also very gentle at the same time!Probably the best sounding version so far, in my humble opinion.
@realRL I totally agree. I was at an audio store the other night and heard the Penny Lane remix through a pair of Audio-Technica headphones. I’ve listened to that song 1000 times but that was definitely a wow moment – the dynamics are amazing. I don’t know what they did, but as you said they have created a new version that sounds awesome!

Bought Beatles 1 CD/DVD Today for my brothers Xmas present, on sale for $10. I suppose if I see Beatles +1 Blu Ray for half price on Boxing Day, I just might bite the bullet!
I know, I know, I’ve been insulting Apple, now I’m going against everything I’ve been sayin’.
BUT, only If I find it for half price!!!!!! I’m allowed to change my mind, aren’t I ????
BEATLES Music gives me Eargasms!

It’s as epic and wide as it ever was, but still focused and dense. Gorgeous.

I guess, I don’t mind the first 3 months for .99 cents Canadian to rent Spotify, but can’t see myself paying $10 a month to rent music.
I don’t get it. You can stream free music from YouTube and download it for free, why pay???? What am I missing here?

I think the issues is that you really need a world-class audio engineer to do this, perhaps in a roundtable fashion which would include both world-class audio engineers and Beatles historians . . Giles Martin is a producer, he’s the son of a great producer . . but I don’t know that we can call him a truly world-class audio engineer. I really think you’re going to need the best of the best

I love these remixes. Although I bought the video straight away, I never actually listened to the CD. Oddly enough I never bothered to digitize it either. A couple of years ago I had an emergency where I had to do a long drive. With nothing else going on, I started playing the Amazon Auto rip (actually a stream at that point) on my phone. I thought if it sounds this good on MP3s in my car then the CD should sound even better on my stereo. And it does. I said it on the video page and I’ll say it here. Giles and Sam deserve an award for All You Need Is Love ,
What is happening? And tell me how you've been.

Not really about the “1” album, but I figured It’s the best existing thread to share this great post from a friend’s blog, about all of the #2 hits that were denied the top spot by the Beatles:

We don’t have a thread for just the 1 album, so I’ll go ahead and post this here in the 1 remixes thread.

Decades later–and long after they split–the band is still hitting new highs and improving their legacy.
This week, The Beatles’ 1 reaches a very special milestone. The compilation has now lived on the Billboard 200 for 550 weeks.
1 is The Beatles’ longest-charting title on the Billboard 200, Billboard’s weekly ranking of the most-consumed albums in the U.S. It’s their first release to make it to 550 frames on the tally, and it likely won’t be matched for some time.
Yes, John, we thank you for that group you created.
