George Harrison’s All Things Must Pass gets deluxe reissue treatment

George Harrison‘s third solo album, All Things Must Pass, is to be reissued in an array of formats including an ‘Uber Deluxe’ box set.

The new versions will be released on 6 August 2021. Although billed as a 50th anniversary reissue, All Things Must Pass was originally released on 27 November 1970.

There will be eight separate editions of the album: an ‘Uber Deluxe’ box set; super deluxe 8xLP box set; super deluxe 5xCD and Blu-ray; deluxe 5xLP; deluxe 3xCD; standard 3xLP; an ‘E-Commerce exclusive’ 3xLP splatter vinyl box set; and standard 2xCD. All formats include a new remix by engineer Paul Hicks.

The most noteworthy version is the limited Uber Deluxe box set, which includes – housed in a bespoke wooden crate – 70 tracks spread over eight vinyl LPs and five CDs, including 47 demo recordings, outtakes and studio jams; Blu-ray disc featuring hi-res stereo, 5.2 surround and Dolby Atmos audio mixes; 96 page scrapbook containing lyrics, diary entries and notes; a wooden bookmark from a Friar Park oak tree; illustration print by Klaus Voormann; a copy of Paramahansa Yogananda’s book Light from the Great Ones; rudraksha beads; and a replica of the original album poster.

Oh, and 1/6 scale replica figurines of Harrison and the gnomes featured on the cover. All this will cost an eye-watering, wallet-busting £859.99/$999.98. “While I’m living in the material world/Not much giving in the material world…”

George Harrison’s masterpiece, ‘All Things Must Pass’, is being celebrated with a suite of new 50th anniversary editions, including multiple limited physical and digital configurations featuring sessions outtakes and jams on August 6th, 2021. All versions are available for pre-order now.

Decades in the making and lovingly crafted by the Harrison family, All Things Must Pass has now been completely remixed from the original tapes for this stunning release that fulfills Harrison’s longtime desire. Executive produced by Dhani Harrison and mixed by triple GRAMMY® Award-winning engineer Paul Hicks (The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, John Lennon), the new mix transforms the album by sonically upgrading it – making it sound brighter, fuller and better than ever before. Formats contain various ephemera, including a scrapbook curated by Olivia Harrison, replica gnomes, original album poster and much more.

“Since the 50th anniversary stereo mix release of the title track to my father’s legendary All Things Must Pass album in 2020, my dear pal Paul Hicks and I have continued to dig through mountains of tapes to restore and present the rest of this newly remixed and expanded edition of the album you now see and hear before you,” says Dhani Harrison.

Uber deluxe box set

The limited Uber Deluxe Edition presents a stunning new mix of the classic album by Grammy Award-winning mixer/engineer Paul Hicks, overseen by executive producer Dhani Harrison, which includes the album on 8LP and 5CD/BR housed in an artisan designed wooden crate, accompanied by two elegantly designed books paying homage to Harrison’s love for gardening and nature.

The edition contains:

• Wooden Crate (approx. 12.4? x 12.4? x 17.5?).
• Elaborate and expanded 96 page version of the scrapbook, curated by Olivia Harrison, with unseen imagery and memorabilia from the era: handwritten lyrics, diary entries, studio notes, tape box images, a comprehensive track-by-track and more.
• A second 44-page book chronicling the the making of All Things Must Pass through extensive archival interviews with notes.
